Sick E90

Our E90 325i is sick....

And I don't mean sick as in heavy modded, dropped to the ground with ICE etc.

I mean sick as in cough, cough sick.

The folks went to Langebaan over the weekend, and on Sunday the car started cutting out when you get to a stop street. It starts up immediately, but then the idle turns into a 5 cylinder thumping affair.

It idles very roughly, and on the way home, it struggles to get to 120, and overtaking is a complete no-no. There is just no power, not even dropping a cog or two helps it on. (My E36 318 will drop it now going up Ou Kaapse weg.)

So AA loaded it onto a flatbed yesterday. (Man, that's a sorry site seeing the car on the flatbed.)

Spoke to Forsdicks today, and they recon it's either a faulty PCV or a coilpack that went bust.

Motorplan is paying for everything, so we don't have a care, but it would be interesting to hear any of your comments.

Hmmm...cutting out when coming to a stop is usually a sign of a failing MAF sensor on the older cars...dont know if it still holds out for the modern Bimmers?
A failing MAF would count for the rough running and loss of power too?

So, she's back on the road. Engine management software went belly up. The workshop foreman had this huge explanation planned, and I didn't catch halve of it.

Everything on the car was reset, and I took her to Riebeeck West and back this morning. All systems go.

Gone are the days where you took out the filthy jet, clean it/ replace it, screw it back into the carb and drove off
