Please dont tell me you have a K'nN filter in there.....

Ok - I will rephrase and explain it to the uninformed - A direct replacement panel MAF killer :fishwack:

This issue has been tossed around the internet for ages. And we are all free to decide what to do with the information. I personally have used K&N filters in all of 9 vehicles now, for around 10 years and have never experienced any negative effects.

It does make sense though that if over-oiled, one would have a problem over time, but then that would be outside the guidelines of the use of the product. From my personal experience, and used as instructed, these filters are good and make economic sense over time, especially with vehicles where replacement OEM filters are very expensive. Some of the K&N replacements I have bought, were close on the same price as an OEM filter. Everyone would like you to buy their products, and some will damn near say anything and go out of their way to prove/ disprove products to sway you one way or the other. I go with what I have experience with. Below is a pic(s) of the MAF sensor on the 540, after 26000km with a K&N replacement filter. I think we have cleaned the filter once to date.

Have to agree with Greg here!! I have been replacing my stock filters in all my cars with K&N filters since 1997, started with my 1985 Toyota Twincam, then my 1995 150 luxline Honda, then my 1995 180Gli Corolla, then my 1997 vtec (had the car from 80k to 256k km's), then in my 2000 320d, and finally in my 2003 325i.

Now in my wife's car the same, her Tazz, her Mazda etude 180i, and now in her 1998 180i Ballade, and in none of these cars EVER had I experienced ANY complications EVER because of the airfilter replacement. :nonono:

It comes down on personal choice, and like Greg said, how you treat the filter.

You can :)
Just let it dry.

Cleaned mine a while back with some carb cleaner.
If you're in CPT, pull in to my spot and we'll give them a clean.
