Hi All

So its been some time since I posted or was active. Been finishing off a divorce, getting rid of my food store and basically just getting a new life and direction in order.

I have decided to start up a BMW restoration and maintenance shop. I want to turn my passion for BMW's into a business. My intent is to purchase vehicles to restore and save, offer a restoration service to those who have a classic but dont have the knowledge or time to do it themselves and also a 1 stop shop where you will drop off your vehicle and receive it back in as new condition.

I have a dedicated master panel beater who has the knowledge and experience in repairing accident damage, rust removal and repair and excellent paint application.

I also offer a service to just minor to general repairs and maintenance on the classics.

I have 4 cars in already. All cars are get fully stripped down to last bolt. All parts are fully stripped down and electroplated nickel, galvanized, painted or powder coated.

1967 1602. Car is getting a full nut and bolt job restoration. All new trims, rubbers, suspension, interior. Car will be finished in black with black leather and vinyl interior and white roof. This car will be sold once completed, any interested parties who might be interested in purchasing to contact me. I am looking at R300K when done.

Next is a 1970 2002: Also complete strip down to bare metal bolt and nut restoration finished in Red with black interior. All new trims, rubbers, windscreen, overhauled engine, brake system. This is a clients car and budget quote to client was R280K

Next is a 1976 BMW530MLE. I purchased this car but have sold it restored to my brother. Complete strip down to bare metal paint job and accident repair. Overhauled engine , brakes, suspension and drivtrain. Interior is in pristine condition so no work required there. Budget 200K

The last car is a 1969 2002. Car is to be stripped down to bare metal. Final colour Dark blue metallic. with custom black leather interior, using e30 sports seats. 5 bolt custom suspension with disk brakes front and rear. 2L engine with side webers, turbo spoiler kit, decromed and some other custom touches. Will be a 1 of a kind retro restoration. Budget 250k

Also a 635csi which I am quoting on.

If any one interested in getting quoted or have forgotten projects that they want to sell, please PM.
I am looking for 2002, E9, E3 and any other older model BMW's. All cars must have papers though whether scrapped etc.

I will post regular updates as each car is worked on so you guys can see the level and depth of the restoration work on each car.

Fantastic Luis, I assume you're still in the Vaal?

I'd be happy to come lend a hand once I've settled down.

Let me know where you are, I'll pop in sometime :coolShake:

I was thinking about you this week and wondering what you've been upto.

Sorry to hear about the misfortunes, but at the end of the night, the sun rises.

This is a great initiative and we wish you all the best with the new venture...

Hi all

Thanks for the encouraging words, I hope to make it a success.
To answer some questions, Yes I will look at working on other cars other than BMW's as far as my knowledge extends to that project. I am still based in the Vaal. Im still moving in and sorting out hoards of spares.

To give some more depth or idea of what a bolt and nut job entails
The red 2002, is rust ridden. Its starts with a full strip down and assessment of each part. A detailed list of parts needed is made up, the parts only list on this car excluding engine spares is currently at 90k. Spares sourced from USA, UK, Germany and BMW Classic shop. Every rubber component is being replaced.
Bodies in almost all cases are sandblasted or at minimum sandblasted in critical areas. Car is then sprayed with a coat of steel rust protection.New steel is cut and welded and car is then primed. Then alot of prep work is done getting the car perfect for colour. Cars are sprayed about 2-3 times before the body is ready for a final colour. The intermediate coats help us find minor imperfections that cant be spotted with primer.Typical full respray is 6-8 weeks.

Depending on the amount of restoration the client wants and budget, every part is then stripped, cleaned and then painted, powder coated, nickel plated or whatever is required. All bolts . nuts ect are either replaced or also nickel plated, galvanized etc.

For the red car we are replacing every suspension rubber, new shocks, calipers, boosters and master and slave cylinders are being reconditioned. Starter and alternator also being reconed. Radiator is being checked, flushed and rebuilt to new. The engine is being completely stripped down and is in for a full overhaul. All engine parts are sandblasted, painted etc. The interior is completely trash and new carpet set, seats, and door panels are being made. Dash is being recovered in leather as is the steering wheel.

Rims on this car a rare set of BBS 13" is also being fully reconditioned and new tires

Bumpers and light surrounds are sent for chroming.

Some idea on parts prices, 2002 indicator R3500 ea, door rubber seal R3500 per door. Full set of 10 waistline trims R10k. Set of chrome style grills are R11K a pair

Approximately 4-5 months for a full restoration.
