Hi all.

I have stumbled across a 2017 BMW 340i M Sport. 67k KM’s.

It is being sold at a Cherry dealership. I’m in the process of getting a full franchise service history from them.

This is what the salesman has supplied so far.

I still need to run a vin check on the car for any accidents.

The car is quite loud for a start. It has a kyostar induction and exhaust on the car. First time hearing this brand.

Can anyone spot anything unusual about this car for sale ?

All advice and comments appreciated.

Does the car have frontal PPF as the front end looks a different shade of white?

Also most of the panel gaps are looking off to my eyes. Could just be the pics.

Please refer to this thread and email Coisman all info required in the specified format so he can do an enatis check for you:

It doesn't look bad, I dont think.

There are VERY few 340i in good MSport guise.

Intake + DP I would consider the possibility of the car having had software before? Not necessarily though, but possible. Kyostar is reputable and fine, and the intakes sound great in any case (add 0 performance, but sound cool).

Price isn't far off either. Considering how few exist and are available.

You definitely have a bit more work to do as well - BMW history - see if anything weird (preferred to the iDrive history).

If all checks out - BUY IT! I absolutely love mine.

  1. A plastic bumper vs metal fenders/bonnet will more often than not have a 'different shade' of paint. Just how paint works
  2. Front plastic (top of bumper) alignment with bonnet is often not result of accident but rather just fastening the screws unequally (could have been removed to change front grills for example).
  3. Which other panels did you spot?

1. Well aware of plastic vs metal - I am referring to the difference in colour from the door onwards vs the front of the car- front yellower and could be ppf.
2. Yep, don't even look at that panel anymore.
3. Gaps near the bonnet hinge location
Left rear door both gaps seem larger than usual

As I said could just be the pics or my eyes. But Coisman's check should assist if it was in any major prank.

Update:

Salesman says he doesn’t have and can’t get the official document of the car with the specs and mileage which I have received from other sales man.

He exact reason was for “copy act”.

No idea what that means but it looks down from here, 30k KM’s unaccounted for service and yet they claim in the advert that it has full franchise service history.

I also the the difference in colour from the fender going forward. Definitely not PPF. The LHS looks pretty fine. Gripe is on the RHS.

Move on.

The dealership not being honest or don't know the car's complete history.

I would just take a moment first. If I'm reading the service history correctly there the first service was on 11k km > 18 months & 9500km > 4500km 17 months > 3500km 7 months. They do seem a little strange, but before you lose hope, get a service history from BMW. While time durations are longer than normal, the mileage between services are low. Also those services would have been in motorplan still, so history will be available. Just get the facts from BMW before making a call.

I'd bet there is ppf on the front causing the yellow look. For panel gaps, check the fixing points of the bonnet and see if the bolts have moved - paint marks. @///M Individual is a professional detailer so his advice on this topic is good advice.

I'm personally not a fan of buying a mechanically modified car, but that's your call. If you can't get the BMW info, drop me a DM. If service history is verified from BMW or not, and the paint checks out or not, and you are happy with the mods or not, then you can make an informed decision.

If someone can probably shed some light on these B58 motors. Very rare, but there's been talk about cylinder 6 cracking or the pistons cracking. I think production models after 2017 had the issue rectified.

I know @Xcede Performance done a rebuild on a B58 that had this issue.
