"Johan Schwartz, BMW performance driving instructor, set a world drifting record today at Greer’s BMW Performance Driving Center.

Schwartz set the new standard by drifting 51.278 miles – 322.5 laps – around the performance center’s track. A representative of the Guinness Book of World Records was at the event to authenticate the record.
Adbho Fenghali, of Lebanon, set the record in February with a drift of 6.95 miles. Schwartz, in a media demonstration in March, vowed to crush Fenghali’s record.
Schwartz drove a stock-standard rear-wheel-drive twin-turbocharged V8-powered BMW M5. Proceeds, unannounced, from BMW Pro-Am fundraiser will go to the charities the tournament is aiding this year.
All proceeds from the attempt will go to the BMW Pro-Am charity with fundraisers available through per-lap sponsorship, car signage and guessing how long Schwartz's drift will go."

I would like to know whether i single set of tyres made it through almost 80kms of drifting? From the pic it looks like the track was wet, but to keep the entire track wet for the duration.

What a feat though...:praise:

How long does a set of tyres last, while drifting?

It all depends on tyre temperature, if you can keep the temperature down a harder compound can last quite long. A smooth surface also helps but can slow the speed a lot making maintaining momentum hard.
