Sat in a G20 today

As the title says, a work colleague and I, who are both in to cars, decided to take a trip to our local BMW to have a proper look at the G20 today.

... I... actually really like it. I tried to convince myself that it wasn't nice, having recently bought an Audi, but dang, it's pretty beautiful. They had the blue and the white (white looking much better IMO, as it shows off the contours). The interior is a major upgrade from the F30. There's a lot to like here (other than the price.....). The models on show were both M-Sport with all the M-Sport extras.

We didn't get to test drive it, but have been invited to do so next week. Coming from a MK7 GTI and an Audi A4 B9, my work colleague and I both agree that it feels like an upgrade from what we have. Maybe it's the "new car" goggles, but I think I like where BMW is going with this. Especially with how the rear looks on this model.

Anybody else seen them in person? Thoughts?

I've driven one for about a 100km or so in mixed driving. A 330i.

It really is an awesome package. The interior is leaps and bounds ahead of the F30 and the drive is also much better in my opinion. The G20 felt especially good in the corners which is something that I felt was lacking in the F30 when compared to my E90.

I think BMW hit it out the park with the G20 albeit at a ridiculous price.

The bar has been raised on the G chassis in various elements. I like the classy interior, but the G20 looks off to me, something about the front puts me off entirely.

In terms of the price.. Compare it to the price of a new Polo GTI.. Not the Golf.. The Polo.. and you soon see why all the prices are so high as they are.. :fencelook:

Was in the same boat a week or so back, used M4 Competition for the same price as a specced 330i.. If you buying the G20 with the Select offer to give the car back in 3 years, it makes sense to some extent.

I passed on both when I was at BMW recently. My 335i to me at least is not replacable, not at the prices they want to give me, someone else is just going to get my well cared for car for a bargain. :=):

I agree. The prices they want now is pushing down their sales. And if your current BMW is well looked after and treating you well the stick with it. Just my 2c

M3 comp vs a 330i does not make sense to me in any world

Even with BMW select, after a 10.5% deposit, you're still looking at, I think it was R8300 for a 320i per month. Kinda crazy!

Its a step up and a good direction that BMW took to out pace the competition. The quality is obvious to the eye.

The G20 is a great looking car, and I am so looking forward to the LCI which I suspect will address the rear tail lights as they are not the best looking for me.

@CoidFusion, rather confusion: any M car is different to the normal series thus comparing a M4 to 330i makes zero sense!

Comparing the price between a F series M and the G series entry level engine is what I did. I like the tech but the 190kw motor does not justify the price. Guess I am into that vs the other aspects.

Agreed on the sales, I see G20s on the road but not as many, think people are really comparing the price when they get down to it. My 2c.
