SANRAL clowns

So today I get an e-toll bill in my post box. This would be all fine and well, if not for the following:
1. I live in Cape Town;
2. I was not in JHB recently;
3. The bill is in respect of my motorcycle registration number;
4. The vehicle in the foto is a gold citi golf.

I immediately start thinking, "ffs, this is going to be a royal pain in the arse!"

So I call the SANRAL call centre. I explain the story, only to be received by a "so your point is?" attitude. I again point out the flaw in their stupid system - how do you send a bill where the vehicle description on eNatis doesn't match the foto??

It then becomes even more amusing. I'm informed in order to dispute this, I need to download a form off their website, have it signed in front of a commissioner of oaths, and then POST them the letter. No email, no fax, no telephonic logging of a dispute - POST! What day and age do these fools live in?

There's clearly a moron driving around with a cloned plate, given the vehicle description doesn't match the eNatis database, however now the burdensome onus of proof (and associated pain in the arse) sits with me to prove it's not my vehicle! What planet are these creatures at SANRAL from? Why not simply look at the query telephonically and flag for someone in their useless VPC to look at?

But wait, it gets even better! I need to do this for every invoice I receive?! This is going to be a monumental eff-up and waste of my precious time.

Anyone of the GP fanatics have experience dealing with these buffoons and able to give me a headsup on how to deal with this more effectively? I'm in no mood to follow this plainly ridiculous process...

Any guidance will be appreciated.

Hey Bernard, check this thread - https://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=54904

Another user, Towatoy, had his plate cloned and the car in question was also a BMW that looked similar to his.

I believe he got it sorted. Try have a word with him.

Hope you get this sorted out. These Etolls are a joke. I got a bill today for R30..., for going through 2 gantries, roughly just over 1km apart, I mean seriously, 1km apart, and you want me to pay over R30 to use the road... they can get F****D,,,

The discount rate is R13 if I pay this week. LOL.

Anyway, good luck.

I woudn't lose any sleep over it, the only waste of time will be after you have ignored the demands for the um-teenth time, and you get asked to appear in court, that would be the only time wasted, but it would also give you a massive saddistic smirk, when they get it thrown out with egg on their face, then counter sue them for your wasted time

Bernard there was a programme on heart radio station about capetonians being invoiced for cloned plates in GP. Its a total inconvenience & frustrating experience.

The toll system must be scrapped...its not workable:argh:

I've read this twice out of disbelief.
Sanral was created for the sole purpose of f**king with people. You need a negative IQ to apply for a job there. Sorry you JHB guys are eating this sh*t.
Hope we WP don't join you too soon.
Dieselfan, feel free to edit emotionally charged words above, 'tis your job hehe.

Just ignore it......it will cost them much more time to track you down anyway! So let them come to you if they want it sorted......it's time that we as a nation take a stand against this absolute daylight robbery!!!

Ignore it.

Let them waste their time and money trying to collect it from you. IF and only IF they do issue a court order, they have to get the court in YOUR area to hear the matter.

SANRAL will then have to pay for a flight and accommodation for one of its representatives to go down to Cape Town for the case.

I think a Cape Town judge will just laugh and have it dismissed...

Send it to the News paper its very Funny these Sunral creatures

http://www.fin24.com/Economy/Sanral-resolves-Cape-tractor-e-toll-bill-20140225

Cape Town - The case of the "e-tolling" Western Cape tractor has been resolved, according to the SA National Roads Agency (Sanral).

A farmer and his wife from Citrusdal in the Western Cape were very surprised when they received a Gauteng e-tolls invoice of R43.50 for their tractor.

Inva van Wyk told Fin24 the last time she and her husband Johnnie had been in Gauteng was 40 years ago.

Yet they got a Gauteng e-tolls invoice for CAR 10944, the registration number of their tractor, which was safely lockup up in the shed.

The photo attached to the invoice showed a white panel van with the same registration number passing through an e-toll gantry in Gauteng on December 19 at 23:00.

Sanral has now told Fin24 that the matter has been resolved.

An investigation by Sanral determined that the car passing through the gantry had the registration number CAR 10844 and not CAR 10944 (the tractor's).

"The Invoice has been written off as it was an error from our side," Sanral told Fin24 on Tuesday.

So the cameras that can read the license disk of a speeding car cannot tell the difference between an 8 and a 9?

That is the way to deal with it. A few minutes in court for a good laugh.
