Bottom line, its illegal. There have been many cases where innocent peiple have been killed due to illegal drag racing.

So when the cops try and stop it, they wasting time ! WTF ?

Its usually meets like the one at samrand where okes get drunk and drive like morons that causes the problems.

So, in my my opinion as a racer, u get get caught at these hookups, racing or not, u deserve the hassles u get.

I have been caught at private hookups and the cops dont give as much hassles cause there are no morons acting stupid.

well thats the thing,at the ic cream events we all act like good well behaved citizens, unfortunatlly at the last one it was on the same night as the illeagal events 200m down the road.

lets be honest if you see a e90 like touring gp,then you automatically the cops see street racer, even when the car is just standing there.

I get ur point dude. These huge illegal hookups fark it up for everyone.

The best thing us to stay away. Organise hookups on a different day and not at known hotspots.

I have put alot of work, time and money to make my Cupra more "fun". I enjoy the thrill if street racing. I do however stay away from the massive illegal hookups. We organise private runs on odd days with a few cars. We dint get hassles even when the cops do come. At the worst they ask us to leave. We have even had them stay to watch.

All im saying is that hookups like the samrand one cause problems for everyone. 100s of people watching, drinking and acting stupid while 2 cars go at it all night.

The cops come see a huge crowd and react.

@dstv8 Could you please supply us with all the hot spots across South Africa and times and days that these illegal races take place, so we know where and when to stay away from and can warn the public in general to stay away, as they have a good chance that an incompetent idiot can arrest them.

You on the forums, u monitor the news ? The HOT spots are advertised everywhere.

This excuse that I just went to buy Mcdees or Bread at 10:30pm at a known HOT spot with your modified car is utter BS !

If you believe that, then you even more dumb than you make out the cops to be.

I think cops can do anything about these stuff. Even at Voortrekker road, dragracing still continuing on sundays.

I saw few hondas and 1400s on sunday.

Not all of us have a 9h00 to 16h00 job like you, some of us actually work, and at nights as well if you can believe, and if I then stop to buy bread and milk before I go home, I don't want to be harassed by some wanker trying to arrest me. (Sure the lady that stopped to buy groceries was not driving a fooked up cupra)

And yes I am on forums, like bmwfanatics, dirt24, thinkbike etc and do not really see these things advertised, and I do not troll the supped up dinky toy sites like you looking for races, so will not know where these hotspots are, so can you please start a hotspot thread for us.

And BTW, everybody that drives a nice supped up car is not always linked to a forum and might be driving the vehicle because he or she likes the look and the sound of the vehicle.

@dstv8 Just because you troll the streets at that time of night in need of a fix, looking for a race, does not mean everybody else on the road is looking for a race, so you must even be dumber than a sheep.

fact is street racing is probably 0.5% of the death on our roads... and i dont want my freedom of movement/expression restricted because someone might think im street racing :thumbdo:

the death toll in our country is atrocious (everywhere not just the street) so i would rather the police focus on bigger problems and try resolve them before they deal with this tiny problem...

beast power couldnt aggree more,i also work shifts and many a time stopped at the macdonalds in hans strydom road here in pretoria, now it use to be a hot spot for street racers,so does that mean i pass on by and go home and starve.

also just because i make my car look different, does not mean im a street racer,if it does then 75% of the bmwfanatics can be classed as street racers.

now i like a car to look different and we all like to meet up to check out each others work, and give positive comments, ask any ice cream fanatic..

if people know of any hot spots, lets make a list to warn our fellow fanatics(some which i can call friends) and also keep the bmwfanatics name high

thanks colin

Samrand was cool man .....

After Wesbank closed down i took it to the streets where this stuff started!!!! ( Step Up Steal) hahahaha

But seriously if i get caught racing then i know im in the wrong but dont give me grief for parking at a garage.

1st was the pond, then woodmead, Then Mkar (however you spell it), then Voortrekker and now Samrand  This sucks....I enjoy this stuff....

Talton is too far to drive. Problem is driving back...Did it once and wont go again. Esp at night.

But you get stupid drivers at these places, And im not being mean, but VW golf drivers try to do really stupid things to empress people.....

When i saw that bad accident at woodmead where a father and child was run over i never went to these events again until recently....Takes one cake to mess it up for everybody....We should know our limits and what our cars can do and what it cant do.....

Dont try drifting a golf...Youll look like an a$$ either way.....
