55000 Pounds :dropjaw:
Whats it really worth ?

UK is a collectors market. A gem UK spec (1 of 500) one will go for 30 000 Pounds .

As this has the story of being 1 of 100 SA one's which had unique features and finds itself in the UK and has 36 000kms or whatever. i think someone will pay.

Hmmm just a comment on the side, there were 194 if I remember correctly that were build. I have posted the exact production figures somehwere on the forum.

Thats a crazy figure, but if e30 M3's are in that price range, then surely e28 M5's will start selling for more,
just pure math I'm basing this on.Also:
10 models in e30 M3 lineup and
2 models in the M5 lineup

E28 M5 Production 1985–1988
2,191 units
E30 M3 Production 1985-1992
16,202 units

Any thoughts ?
(I pulled the production models and numbers from Wikipedia quickly, hope they correct)

And the shocking thing is that this car actually sold for the advertised price.

Didn't even take that long

Numbers alone [or lack thereof] don't make a model desirable or collectible.

In the case of the e30 M3, it is the racing pedigree.

M5s are always less valuable than the same era M3

Production numbers for RHD M5s are 187 for UK and 96 for SA.

And did you guys know that one just like this was crashed by motoring journalists at Kyalami back in the day when the car was launched?

If I remember correctly, the number plate was LFV 037 T or LFV 039 T!

So only 95 really got sold new! I wonder if they repaired the crashed model.

I remember this because the guy responsible for the crash is an old friend of mine! :fencelook:

He is also the guy responsible for giving me the greatest driving experiences through the years - I remember the two of us testing the E36 M3 in 1995 and taking pics of the speedo clocking 260km/h back then - a great guy and BMW forgave him for the crash as the point of the test was to drive the cars hard!

Looking at this gem makes me wonder what it felt like crashing a spanking new one that would fetch this price today!
