About to purchase a 2011 S1000rr. What are your experiences with the bike? Pros Cons. Reliability ect ect. Basically wane know if it's a good bike or not. Test rode it and loved it. Mileage is abit high at 30k but sure that's nothing for a bmw?

:coolShake: great Bike a couple my mates have or have had them, luv the quick shifting abilities.
nice and quick off the mark but feels a tad short for me - although Im only 5.11 I am used to my Aprilla Mille and my Fireblade - both longer. But having said that the S1000 handles corners nice.

Everyone is concerned with 30000kms seems like high mileage but its actually not those motors go for ever. Motor will be nice and smooth now, as long as you change all fluids offten you will never have issues.

good luck

Thanks Mike appreciate the feedback. Having come from an older gsxr 750 this is a big improvement. Love everything about it so far. Like I said only concern was mileage. But ill bare what you said bout regular servicing of fluids in mind.

:coolShake: you will have to get used to the difference in the Breaking system also compared to the GIxer the BMW is very smooth.
Here is some interesting reading most will not know about how the Electronic breaking system works....

They are extremely good bikes, with amazing handling capabilities.
It's a lot more involving ride, you really need to hang on to it.

Most important option.... double check and make sure the bike has DTC (traction and anti-wheelie control)!!!!! :smashScreen:

I have a 2011 S1000RR and i assure you they are terrific bikes. Great power, handling, braking and the electronic aids are super. Mine has about 23000kms and still feels like a brand new bike. If the price is right and hasnt had any major crashes or drops. then i highly recommend it as well.

Cheers

I have had the 2013 and now the 2016 and all i can say is if you do have the cash to get the 2016, do it and you will never look back...

Like Kimeran said though ensure that the pre 2013's have the DTC option.... I also have a buddy who was selling a very clean low mileage 2011 so let me know if you still looking.... Waiting to see those pics:praise:

To add: Just noticed the mileage... That is very high for a bike like that imho but again it all boils down to the maintenance I guess.... Sprocket changed? Chain Changed?

High mileage.....haha

My K7 GSX-R1000 has 80k kms on now, it has not had a single mechanical breakdown or failure since I bought it 6 years ago with 14k kms on. Still puts a smile on my dial every time I ride her (all seasons, all weather).

If you maintain them they last. If you abuse them they break, just like any other type of vehicle.

So the real question is - how was it maintained and used for the last 30k kms?

Depending on budget...if you looking at S1000RR 2011, look at the HP4 version...

the HP4 makes the same power as the 2016 S1000RR, however with added extra's that you will enjoy, launch control, auto dampening suspension, Rain mode... it a very good all round bike.
