rowdy engine from cold start after fitting downpipes

Hi Guys,

I had downpipes fitted to my 2009 335i yesterday. Lastnight late after the engin cooled down and again this morning, the cars idling is unstable, jerks and doesnt perform properly at all until it reaches higher engine temperatures. It has 72k on the clock and was running flawlessly before. Any ideas what the problem could be.?

Thanks
Duane

Im not sure. That was what i was suspecting as well. How can i verify that.?

Hi Akash

If they are in the incorrect positions, will it cause any damage to the car if i drive with them like that for a long distance before swapping them to their correct places.? Im in centurion and the guys who worked on it are in johannesburg.. so ill have to go all that way again to have it sorted out.

Thanks
Duane

PM Pyspher13 on the forum he should be able to sort you out. Even if its just a diagnostic for now to read any codes.

Usually when fitting in the downpipes the tuner will mark off which O2 sensor came of which OEM DP so they don't accidentally swap them around.

Since you are only getting issues when you start the car up, it would be best to try and swap them while the car is cold and then see how the car reacts afterwards.

Hey Akash,

Took it to the guys at Revo who ran a diagnostic for me. Turns out the sensors are swapped. Fortunately nothing too serious. Will have them see to it in th am and report back if the problem is cleared,

Thanks again for your inputs. Take it easy
