CAPE TOWN - Police are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving following an accident during the Knysna leg of the Rogue Rally.
Three people were injured when a Lamborghini crashed into two other vehicles on Thursday. This resulted in Thursday’s leg of the rally coming to an abrupt halt.
The Rogue Rally is a weeklong event in which 50 supercars drive from Johannesburg to Cape Town.
The police’s Malcolm Pojie says: “The driver of the Lamborghini hit a rock and lost control of his vehicle and the vehicle collided with a Toyota Prado and a Mercedes Vito that was parked next to the road."
Pojie says a man and a woman were hit by the car as well.
Rogue Rally spokesperson Jacques van den Bergh says the event will continue today as planned.
The event's officials posted an update on the injured victims to the official Rogue Rally Twiiter account yesterday.
