Road conditions from Joburg to Alpine Heath resort

Hi fellow fanatics.

Hope everyone is well and keeping safe.

I am doing a family road trip soon to Alpine Heath resort and wanted to know if anyone recently travelled this route from Joburg?
How were the road conditions? Will it be okay to drive in a lowered car?

Being down that route in December.
I would not recommend a lowered vehicle for the R74
Potholes have a new meaning on that hour or so stretch to get to Alpine Heath.
Overall Road Surface is very poor.

Holiday was leaker, roads weren't too bad, one or two bad sections with potholes, lots of trucks, otherwise was great.
