Hi Guys

Does any of you guys maybe know what the cost of a Rob Green back box is?
Just the box and not the whole stage 1 thingy... also what make or manufacturer these boxes are?
Heard good things about it:thumb:

Why don't you just mail them? Apparently they make their own stuff. Personally I would stay away from RGM stuff, they are massively overpriced.

exhaust is all or nothing so if you just planning to change the back box i would not bother…

I got a quote from them beginning of the year, the whole stainless steel exhaust is about R22800, that's for the e92 M3:shocked:

But call and talk to Steve Green, he is actually pretty quick with the pricing.

IMO RGM is a waste of money. Bought a complete system that was 10k yes 10k and believe it or not my M3 made less power with that complete system on as opposed to my stock system , was dynoed the same day.

Ended up going to Powerflow Randburg where a complete system was rebuilt to get gains of roughly 5kw.

Now im not one to base info on dyno reads but i will say this on the road the RGM exhaust was a dud and the newer powerflow system pulled much stronger.

To give you guys some sort of idea , powerflow built around 10 complete exhaust systems on my car always getting better and better.

Something to think about !

Depending on the model of BMW one owns , a backbox change with a decat can do wonders.

the whole system was designed around the cats... if you decat and change all the boxes you should see a gain... if you just change the back box it wont make a big difference because the other boxes will still be restrictive... the other boxes also receive hotter air so they more important as far as flow goes... i would rather buy cheaper boxes and change all three than buy an expensive back box hoping it will some how improve flow... most lightly changing the back box ill only make noise with no gain because the back box kills most of the sound...

Might be what he is wanting... I would not mind a bit more noise from my car. but not too much..

there is nothing worse than a car that makes a noise and goes nowhere... and much rather have it the other way around

The car is decatted and i just fitted a back box:mmm: cant say where i got it from and definately an improvement in the revs.. revs going up much quicker and slight difference in performance:thumbsup:
Now to get to the private testing facility:)

if you really want to see a gain you need to replace or remove the other boxes... it can only flow as much as the most restrictive part of your exhaust changing the other 2 boxes wont cost much so i dont see why you would not do it... like a said before the hotter gas at the other 2 silencers makes them work harder to flow the air… thats why cars have the biggest silencer at the back where it will course the least restriction

are you going to put 2 or 1 boxes :) 2 will make it sound deeper and be a bit quieter, but some dont like it because they think it makes the car sound 'hollow'

This is my setup...

50mm piping (its double so each is 50mm), stock is 42mm IIRC
2 x small boxes to replace the exhaust cats
1 x medium box for the center
1 x large for the back.

Sound is a bit deeper at idle, but through the revs she is quiet. Its almost identical to the stock tone!

Increase in power is great too...

Mr_Arbee dont you lose alot go ground clearance with the silencers where the cats used to be? On my car I only have pipes there and I still loose a few mm
