With all the issues my car has, and the fact that I had to get her ready for long distance journey on short notice, Super Street Autoworx were the only option I had that could accomodate me.
They received an excellent recommendation from a couple of online acquaintances who used SSA for carbon cleaning, but I was still a little hesitant.
Imagine my surprise when I met the owner, Talon Pillay. He originally hails from KZN and in a surprising twist he did his initial BMW Apprenticeship training at the very dealer my car was originally purchased from. In fact he worked on the car for its first few services, so my E36 has come a full circle. He has over 20 years experience working for BMW locally and overseas.
I felt much more at ease after meeting Talon and very impressed with his neat workshop. I can't tell you guys how annoying a dirty untidy workshop annoys me.
Now to the meat and bones. My 318i needed a major service (all filters, oil, spark plugs etc) and a diff swap.
Total for the service itself with parts and labour was just over R2k. As it turns out, all my belts and pulleys needed to be replaced as well, so that was an additional R1.5k. SSA charged me a minimal labour fee to swap the diff, and swap the flanges in order to get it all to work without me needing a new propshaft.
Post service, Talon has given me a list of things on the car that need attention in the near future (it never ends with old BMWs eh?)
So, George, Talon. 5 Stars. Service like this is rare in the motor trade, especially in Cape Town.
