Reputable Autobody Repair - Stone Chips

Hi Guys,

Hope everyone is doing good.

Are there any recommendations for an Autobody Shop to repair minor stone chips, preferably brush touch ups and not having to spray the whole panel as it is really a few minor chips on the bonnet.

Looking for a really good reputable company with good results, preferably a company you have used in the past.

If it was Pretoria area, Artistic Auto Body. Owner is Dino, I've known and used them for almost 30 years now.

I’d suggest BodyLine Auto in Randburg on Bram Fischer.

Top notch work, they’ve done work for me for stone chips and scratches and matched the colour perfectly. Their paint technique is good. No flaws in the paintwork etc.

Owner managed as well so service is really brilliant.

Speak to Selvan.

If this car is your daily driver and not a garage queen, I would advise to rather wait for more severe chips and then perform a respray.
I had resprayed the bonnet on my 2007 Volvo C30. It was an expensive job, given that the colour had a pearlescent effect.
After a week, I got a huge stone chip and I regretted the respray.

If you still want to respray and use your car regularly, then consider applying a bonnet clear vinyl wrap after the spray is done.

I reread your post - you are not wanting a full respray but just touch ups. The problem with touch ups is the difficulty in blending the touch up region to the old/existing paint on a panel. A respray is usually the most seamless solution.

The Auto Lounge in Centurion is probably one of the best kept secrets in the repair business. Have a look at their facebook and google reviews to get an idea of the customer service and work ethic.

Ask for Eugene Stephan directly.

Hi guys sorry to revive an old thread.

Can anyone recommend a company that specialises in stone chips repairs in Durban?

I have a good panel shop but they only do brush touches to stone chips and advised that it doesn't look the best.

My client does not want to repaint the panel just have the stone chips touched up before I detail the car.

I have Googled and found Dr Colour Chip but tried calling them with no answer.

There's a proper neat way to touch up chips using a needle and syringe etc but I don't have the time to do it and was hoping I could outsource.

Thanks in advance.

Revival of an old thread, but I see this has been asked many times before. Thinking of taking my car to Auto Lounge for a complete respray. Is this a wise choice? I was going to take the car to Redline panelbeaters, but they are a bit far from me.

Highly recommended.

We have had AL do 2 of our clients cars in the last 2 weeks and the work os brilliant. The way they handle your car is well when in their possession is very good.

I would highly recommend them based on our reviews as well the work carried out.

Old thread revival, my car is mess, I'm undecided whether to respray the whole entire thing or try Touch Ups as it seems Resprays cost above R60K from quotes I had so far, it's a White E70 X5 I stay in Randburg.

Any Tips gents?

Thread revival, but need to give feedback to protect everyone on this forum.

THE AUTO LOUNGE is shit, do not go there unless you like problems. Avoid at all costs. Ownership changed in July 2023 and their quality of work is shocking and their customer service is worse. Their workshop manager who was my point of contact, kept in touch brilliantly and who was doing QC on my behalf, has left "due to differing work ethics" of the new owner. That should have been the only red flag needed.

I foolishly still took my 540 there in October, they have since not managed to complete the car to the point that I am collecting it to let someone else finish the work. They have called me 4 times for "final inspection before paint" thinking it is ok to paint over bare metal, scratches in the primer, incomplete work, plastic parts sanded into oblivion so are now wavy etc etc etc. On top of this, they destroyed my gearknob and somehow refuse to take responsibility. They then label me "difficult" because I want a job done properly! Their customer relations lady is downright rude and useless.

All-round terrible experience, do not recommend

That sucks man, that is my biggest fear of taking my car anywhere to get repaired is that it will come back worse with additional issues.
Hopefully the new guy can sort you out.

Just for interest sake whats was their quote and how much of it did you pay already?

Very unfortunate that Ownership changed hands, up until that point I only had good work by Eugene for our clients.

Also looking for someone to attend to work I require
