Replacement/ Spare keys in Gauteng

Hi everybody,
after I introduced myself at the new members section I already have the first question.

I got a used BMW here in SA. Unfortunately it just came with one key. Now I would like to get a spare key.

I know that in Germany even some locksmiths make spares for cars and you do not have to go to your BMW dealer (where it might be much more expensive).

From another thread I heard about a company in cape town called drivesure who makes keys. Is there a company offering the same service in Gauteng? Or is there another way to solve the problem?

Howdy,

You will need a master blank key, have it cut, and then coded.

It is a bit of an expensive issue, bout R1,200 or soemthing, but if you loose the main key, you have to virtually replace everything.

thanks for your reply. I gues that would not solve the problem. The keys this guy offers would not open my door.

thanks, can you tell me where to get the blank one and have it coded (in Gauteng arera)?
I can also post the key to drivesure in Capetown, but I prevere not to do that.
