Replacement BMW ......

I have recently sold my E46 M3 and am now trolling the streets and sites for a suitable replacement ..... albeit not with the same impact on the pocket:(

The leading contenders in the under R100k bracket are either a E36 328i or a compact.

I know the obvious replacement would be an E36 M3 but you just do not find decent ones at reasonable prices.

So, are there any suggestions ..... ??

What about an e39 M5? thats family friendly, and you can pick up some decent ones for around 180-250k

Uh...yah.

I was looking at that and there are a couple of really nice ones but I am setting my sights a bit lower at the moment ... alot lower actually ... under R100k.

Buying a house - so nothing extravagant for me at the moment. Just looking for something that I can play with and enjoy until a worthy replacement can be afforded.

Heaven forbid that I end up with a BM'less household :)

haha, go test drive a e39 540 then, they are selling for next to nothing, and if you dont mind shelling out a bit extra for fuel, they are great cars to drive.

For around 60 k you could get an immaculate 328. A beautiful all round car. good power, features excellent ride. nothinng else in that price bracket can compare...and with a few inexpensive tweaks...it really comes to life

I drove mine from 180k to 240k on the clock without spending a cent on broken parts. Ill buy another in a heartbeat should the need arise.

That is quite impressive! I miss the raw drive of my e36 :(

I had a '96 328i Auto about 5 years ago and it also gave me no major problems (Aluminium Block and all).

I had it from 100 000kms to about 155 000kms and the only thing that went wrong was a water pump.

in all seriousness, I have never heard of a BMW model that does NOT experience cooling system failure of some sort, one would think they would address this.

You can get E46 325i for under R100 000... although they might have a few km's on the clock.

Yeah, I was actually looking at gumtree last night and noticed that you can even get 330i's for under 100k now :excited:

Thanks dude:thumbsup:

Mileage is a bit high for my liking but I will go and check it out .. it is a 330 after all.

What bothers me of that pic of the 330 is that the tow cap on th front bumper is missing. Maybe it's accidental, but maybe it has been towed before. Just a thought...

My first thought was 'What's wrong with it'. That is a really small price for a 330i... although I can't help but be interested. ;)

I think I've checked this car out before.

These were my findings:

Sunroof not working
Passenger side protective strips missing
and those wheels are wrong, normally with the individual kit, the car comes out with 330ci wide and narrow wheels.

This was about 5 months ago. But hey, I could be wrong car or maybe some of these faults may have been fixed up already.

Well I picked up my 2002 330i with 148k on the clock for R100 000, private sale, found it in the junk mail. Its the best daily driver I could ask for, it has everything you could want and has great fuel economy if driven properly. I average 9.6Lt/100km, town/highway driving.

Sad thing is that my 320i is heavier on juice than a 330i :bawling:
