Hello fanatics,

Following on the success of Raceday 2015 for team Rennzport the preparations begun in earnest for 2016, all sorts of schedules were drawn up with testing planned and last minute changes to be made, I can only speak for my Durban contingent and I can assure you these guys moved like clockwork! With a week to we had everything buttoned down on 4 cars and waiting on parts to arrive for our mascot and my own car, Thanks to the guys at DHL the all-important items arrived on Thursday morning and fitting begun in earnest. By Friday @ mid-day the car was started for the first time. Departure for us was an hour later to JHB so with the cars loaded up onto trailers and the rest of the convoy to meet us later we departed Durban @ 3pm.

With our trip up being uneventful but long we arrived in JHB and got the cars offloaded at a yard and headed to our guesthouse (thanks Kimeran and Preshen for the help!) Saturday however proved to be a challenging day with a boost leak to trace on one car and a dud o2 sensor on another. Enter another hero for the weekend in the form of Rowen who without a hesitation arranged the right help we needed. Rep points for you buddy!

With both the cars working again Saturday night was testing night, being at altitude presented its own set of dramas to overcome which I was not used to dealing with but after a long think about it a solution presented itself which settled the cars again and got them purring happily.

Sunday morning it was time to get to the track and we were convoying with the other members from Lenz, thanks for waiting for us gents! Arriving at the track we found a spot and made ourselves comfortable. It was time to RACE!

The rest of the day was bittersweet for some of us, some battled to put the power down and some forgot to turn it on! Lol… however at the end of the day we achieved what we came to do. BMWFanatics has always been a battle of the x35i and without disappointing these were the most hotly contested classes.

The results list was only sent to the competitors so most of you wouldn’t have seen the results yet, I have highlighted for me what were the important ones for Rennzport in my opinion, but in all fairness every single competitor was a winner this weekend! Thank you all for being there and making it an event!

On the 1km the ffg notables:

• Zubz took the stock turbo category @ 247kmh smashing the next car in his class by 6khm.
• 4Rose flew the flag high @ 239 for all F series cars
• Sanesh with
consistent underboost issues supported the flag @ 233 as well with a manual F series car,
• PrevanP peddled his E92 335i awesomely @ 235 for a manual full weight car, stock turbo and inlets…
• Ashman also peddled awesomely with his 1M @ 239 he was only base mods on a manual car! Boy oh boy did he have a good day!
• Afzil with his 1M, do I even need to say anything about this car… single turbo powa!!!!!!!! Lots of big plans in his pipeline….
• Icechilli was our star of the day with a best exit of 261kmh, those new snails were boosting but he ran out of fuel sadly. This was the car that was finished on Friday morning before we left. This car is presently the fastest hybrid turbo (not single turbo) n54 in the country over 1km and will be back to defend that title if anyone ever comes close.
• Kish2604, I am not going to blow my own horn but I had the toughest class to box in being the 6 cyl modified turbo. Having fitted 3rd hand turbos into my car in the week that came out of Icechilli’s car, I also ran out of fuel at the hpfp and some last minute adjustments saved the day for the car. Runs were consistent at 254, 256, 258 and 259.
• Mase with the M,C63 also took his class @ 235

The 400m,

I am not too concerned as the timing equip had more trouble than good but Icechilli and me took our respective classes again and brought home the silverware. Mase with the c63 under our banner also took the 8A class. The 400m we will continue to battle at the coast were have the home ground advantage, hopefully the next raceday will be at sealevel.

Other than a small suspension bolt failure to one car and a failed gasket on another cars causing a bit of smoking at the track our losses were low. But I guess that’s racing, you roll with the punches and take advantage when the wind is at your back.

I would also like to take this opportunity to that all the individuals who went out the way to host us and make the trip memorable, @Arbee thank you very much buddy! There are a few others I can’t mention by name but you know who you are! On behalf of the Rennzport team we want to say thank Organisers, Thank you Fanatics and thank you competitors for a memorable Raceday 2016!

Well done team Rennzport, specifically the KZN gents. I spent a lot of time with you guys over the weekend, as a host, making sure you are all good. The Guesthouse seemed to take shape as "home". You guys being comfortable, made me happy.

As i said before, my aim is to bring together a community of like minded individuals. Race Day personifies this as no matter what tuner brand you wear or support, everyone is together. I reached my goal by seeing a group of guys chatting, each from different tuners.

I for see TheFanatics being hosted by the KZN gents in the next year...

Good luck and well wishes!
