Removing Unichip

Hi Guys

I have a car which is currently running a Dasteq Unichip. I would like to remove the chip since I see no benefit in having it on an NA car and I am pretty sure the standard factory software would be better suited.

Can anyone explain how I should proceed in removing it. Obviously just unplugging it doesn't work.

Any help would be appreciated.

You need a "bridging plug" from Dastek

"Naickers" has done it about a week ago so he should be able to give some clear comments o the proceedure.

The uniq was installed by cutting one of the ECU wires, this wire is fed into the uniq, the signal is them modified (or whatever) and an output wire (from the uniq) is then reattached to the other part of the cut wire going into the ECU.

Best bet is to just get a Bridging Plug as Rolf said, They cheap, around R 20 if I remember.

If you want the harnes removed, best to take it to a Dastek dealer and have them remove it. Gonna cost alot more though.

Ask dastek or a unichip dealer to fit a bridge (bypass)

then you can compare different softwares

unichip did help a bit on my NA e36 328iM

I say just take the car in & have it tuned. Then you know it running at it's optimal, whether you want performance or fuel economy...
