Howdy Folks,
So those who know me better, will know that I'm on the extreme side of OCD when it comes to the interior of my car. Ever since I got my car, the leather has been in excellent condition, however it was never quite perfect (a big ask for a 9 year old car). The finish on the drivers seat had a slight shine to it, and while the rest of the car was a bit better, it still wasn't quite what i want.
Nearly a year ago, after having done quite a bit of research, I imported a product called Leather Masters, which according to my findings, was a sure thing. The Leather Masters cleaner is a water-based, pH neutral cleaner which is designed for coated leather such as mine, and would leave a factory matte finish. Sounded great.
Unfortunately, I was bitterly disappointing by the results. I followed the instructions word for word, applying with the sponges supplied in the kit, but really, it seemed to make no apparent difference.
Subsequently I tried several other products, all which also seemed to present at best, marginal improvements in terms of reducing the shine that builds up over time. Then, this morning I was watching some youtube detailing videos, and decided to try using a brush rather to agitate.
So I hauled out the leather masters, bought a soft brush, and tried some light agitation with the Leather Masters cleaner (the shiny sections is before, the matte section after cleaning):
I was rather astounded at how such a simple change in technique could yield such a huge difference in results. The above was from very light agitation, for a very short period of time. I have managed to return my steering wheel to an almost new, matte finish as well.
I'm really glad this product has turned out not to be the waste of time I thought it was, unfortunately I have used most of it already trying to figure out how to get it to work as advertised.
