Guys lets do this a bit different and not jack another mans thread,
bmw4lyf 12.2 is a awesome time well done!!!

Every one has a different opinion by the looks of things on records
set but can't say where they can be checked or how official they are. :blab:

 Now to the guys that run the forum would it not be an Idea for some one to run with this and set a section up where this can be viewed and controlled. Would be great for new guys to see what they need to work to.

Or if Im wrong where can these records be viewed.

I think this is quite hard to do. Most ODI events are non MSA so if you make the guideline MSA it excludes that. Then there are reef and coastal records too. You gotta decide if you going to have two different sections. Also not a lot of forum guys track their cars so the list will be short.

My times have been run at MSA events at Tarlton and backed up on the day and at other events.

So then we can basically say that most of these are just forum records would not be official SA records?

True! but what category of records do you create??
Reef vs Coast?
Stock turbos's VS modified
135 Vs 335 vs 535
Software only VS FBO?

Keeping it simple would prob be the best otherwise the number of categories gets stupid. i.e.

Fastest, black with black wheels N55 135, at the coast with software only, Pump fuel(8 cans of NF to a tank) stripped out with Drag radials. RECORD HOLDER!

Something that at least has all the times all in once place would be a start?

I am happy with Forum records,
For SA records it will get a lot more complicated.

Not sure what would make the record official. Like now since I found out the car was a N55 I got my 335 N54 record back. But I dont have the X35 overall record for N54/55 but still do have the X35 N54 and then when a 135 beats me I will only have the N54/N55 335 overall record etc. Then another devil is the exit speed record so that whole story all over again. Haha. Hence I have put the car away and when someone runs a great time I will come out and set the record straight again. I sat with all the record for two years and trust me its nothing special and comes with its politics. When I ran 12.3 ppl said big turbo, installed big turbo shaved off another .4secs and everyone went silent. I didn't even strip the car went with full kit.
Some guidelines should be made and then whoever keeps the "record book" must follow them. This will make the book official under those guidelines only. i.e. if someone goes and runs a time in East London at a non sanctioned event chances are I wont recognize it on a personal capacity.

335 record - no matter n54 or n55 -no matter transmisson

they should claim a record if its done at a msa event

guys just complicate it

Alternatively, People just post their times and all the mods they had for the run. Even if the only mod was a bottle of octane booster?

I agree with this the auto manual can be debated but would have to say stock or mod turbos as well.

I like this and personally will be competing for an SA Record soon when my cars done in the next few weeks so im all for this
Coast and altitude should def be separate
Slip times should back up times
Times should be done at MSA sanctioned events

If i am not mistaken, guys in the states and other countries recognise Deans time. There were no questions about if it was a MSA event or not. Its only in SA that questions arise.

I really dont see the big deal about guys doing a good time and it being called a Record.

Guys that dont like the so called record will always question this, looking at altitude etc as an excuse.

I believe that if you break a record in SA it should be a new record for SA and questions should not be made with regards to wether it was done at what altitude etc.

If you think there is an advantage of making records at the coast then by all means go break a record down at the coast. I doubt you gonna get haters down there.

Guys this is just my 2 cents and dont take it the wrong way. Making a separate section is a brilliant idea, but no need for so many sub sections.

Congrats again to Koogs, Chris and Renzport on your Record. Keep the good work up.
