Hi guys,
One must also remember that because of the POPPY ACT it is difficult for a OEM to find clients of vehicles after the have been sold after the warranty/service plan has expired. I know BMWSA sent out registered letters to the last known recorded contact details on the BMWSA system, if the campaign required it. If the vehicle has been sold (which is usually the case) and the vehicle has been serviced outside of the BMW network it gets challenging. That is why I started the "check your vin" post. Fortunately BMW has that link now to help you to check your vin yourself. It is also advisable to check your vin regularly every 6-12 months as campaigns may be added at any time. It would also help if BMWFANATICS members helped to assist friends and family members who may not be up to speed with this sort of thing. In the past there was a great deal of support from the forum inquiring on behalf of friends.
Another thing one must also be aware of, is that just because there is a campaign in one part of the world, doesn't mean it is applicable all over the world. The regulations and laws differ from country to country.
