So with the recent hike in petrol prices i have been forced to adapt my driving style.
I drive from Durbanville to Cape Town and Observatory everyday in rush hour. Its about a +-45km stop-start heavy traffic situation. Naturally the straight six should be gulping up the fuel. So i decided to just adapt my driving style to keep to below 3000RPM when changing gears and keep close watch on the consumption needle.
Naturally i get very frustrated at times and when the road does open up, at night, i do the odd redline. All in all 6 "races" and one so called high ref situation. The car is fitted with CAI, has decat and Uni Q chip. I filled up this morning and checked the numbers. Remember this is 85% stop start traffic.
506 km (Yellow low fuel light has not even come on)
Estimated Km left : 126km
Consumption : 9,9l/100km
Taking into account this car is 14 years old and built for speed, not consumption, im very happy with the result.
Its been 10 000km since last service so that number can still come down, even more without my spirited driving.
