Hey guys

Want to attempt replacing brake pads on my baby (e46). Checked the DIY section but still not 100% cumfy as this would be my 1st DIY on her. Anyone have a spare hour or so to assist - Cpt Northern Suburbs?

Thanks in advance:thumbs:

sorry not in CPT, otherwise I would have shown you.

It is actually one of the easier DIY's,
has your brake wear sensor already been activated ?
If so, have you purchased the new sensor ?

A good DIY to start off with not that hard to do. Just make sure that you have a G-clamp or a vice to push the piston back. Some gloves would also be a good idea if you don't want to be scrubbing brake dust off your hands for a week.

Thanks guys. Yeah...checked a few YouTube vids yesterday so noted the clamp.

@ChrisBrand: would really appreciate. PM me your number and we can make some plans this weekend...?

You will need a G clamp, bungee cord to hold the caliper in place so you dont damage the brake line, gloves, a flat head screw driver, jack and jack stands, wheel chock, the replacement pads, the sensor, i think a hex/ allen key to remove the fixing parts and some time in the shade.

as with most car diys, go slow so you dont break any clips, or anything else.
when i have previously dont this, i took the time to clean the tire wells and wheel components, back of wheel barrels, calipers, and wire brush the rust off.

the youtube videos are spot on with whats required.
This is easy to do, once you realize how everything comes apart, you will see just how simple it is.
