OEM brakes have to comply with very strict regulations from the green parties and most/all of the asbestos have been removed from the compound.
The substitutes are not that great and most of the OEM brakes on new generation cars squeel

I bought my 135i april 2011, doing approx 11000km. Never once has my breaks given me a days issue. No squeaks, nothing. Maybe i am one of the lucky ones
