Questions on E90 BMW

Hi Guys,

So my car started playing up recently (2006 BMW E90 325i). When in gear (auto) sitting at a robot, the revs would dip quick and then come back up to regular.

Even when running the aircon, this happens more frequently.

The car is also quite pap, takes a long time to build up revs.

Any one have a similar problem?

Thanks in advance

When did you last change your spark plugs.

I had the issue, the car would drop revs if stopped at idle but would then recover.

I change the plugs and never had this issue since.

It could be a few issues, auto gearbox, battery, vanos solenoids (if you have these but do think you have).

Can you check the error codes as this will help alot. If I can guess then I am going for the exhaust vanos solenoid that might be your problem (2A87 error code) as this unit can contribute to your idling (your idling is right now and then it idles like crap and then it is fine again), performance (sluggish, takes ages to pick up rpm), I had this problem on my 2005 330i about 2 weeks ago although I replaced it then but the problem was intermediate and hard to replicate as when I switch the car off and back on after removing the key the car would idle correctly again. My idling was dipping from sometimes being at 800RPM to somewhere below the 500RPM and then back up again to the 600ish. I also had this hiccup when I push the fuel pedal the car would like sort of brake (these are like milliseconds but you could feel it) before it was going like I was playing with the gas pedal.

Anyway, sorry for my long story but have the codes read and there is parts that control all of this like the vanos solenoid for one.

Oh and spark plugs as Akash said if you don't have an error code when doing the diagnostics.
