Hey All

I have been having a few issues with my new BMW and it has been sitting at BMW since thursday last week while they fix all the issues on it.

1: Aux input does not work.
2: Power aux does not work
3: CD got stuck in the car
4: Fan belt squeak's
5: Lose wire under the seat

I am as you can think quite annoyed at this point, I did not pay so much money for a car that has so many issues.

I have had the car for less than a month now I am very tempted at this point to tell them to take the car and find me another one.

Would is be possible for me to do that ?

:argh:

Give them the chance to fix it whilst remaining civil and everything will be fine.

Do not go in there guns blazing because you will ruin your relationship with the dealership and will never get the service you desire.

Those are small issues and can be solved very easily.

Well I am hoping that on Wednesday, I will have my car back.

They did give me a loan car of a 116i and that is very good of them.

So I am hoping that they can fix everything.

Just one thing dont by a 116i, it has no power.

I miss my 120i :(

I am with Mike.

Those issues are small and should be resolved quickly. Also remember this is not a good time to take your car in for repairs...should have waited till around 10 Jan 2012...then you know service levels are up and the dealership staff are all back from the holidays.

Good luck though

I say this because I once delivered a brand new MINI Cooper S to a client and within the first week it broke down, clutch went and the indicator stalk fell apart. Oh, the microswitch on the door was faulty too. Was the only car I sold which ever gave the client a problem.

He came in, explained the issues and we gave a courtesy car. Everything was fixed in under a week and this customer is very much loved and valued by the dealer. He will get my attention and respect any day of the week.

I understand its a new car, but these things happen. Its how you and your dealer deal with it that is important.

*Just a quick edit to add onto what Twinz said, go mid January and if possible only mention to the salesman you bought the car from that their are problems so he is aware of it. Dont make it his problem as Jan is hectic with clients waiting till the new year to get their 2012 cars. If the salesman knows he can pull strings but if you make it his problem completely I can tell you he wont have the time to assist. :nonono:

All I can do it wait until Wednesday.

Thanks for all the advice guys :ty:

Only thing I am worried about is the CD getting stuck in the radio and they might need to send the radio to BMW for testing.

Also, I do have a Iphone and is it worth installing the kit to get the radio to pick the phone up and which kit should I get ?

Sorry, then i cant assist. If you had bluetooth enabled on the car then your iphone will connect via the bmw plug-in "connected drive". Then you can make and receive calls through the car audio and using the steering wheel controls etc...

The 3000k kit gives you access to the steering wheel, it is merely the wiring loom it uses that changes.

We installed several 3000K units to MINI's & BMW's which worked off the steering wheel. The loom is more expensive though.

That it does do, but I want to be able to control the iphone from the steering wheel looking down to play a song one the phone is an accident waiting to happen.

Then you would need a whole new kit. :nonono:

Before I left MINI a few months ago I recall our Audio People place we used told us of a Parrot Kit that does everything you want for about R2500 fitted.

Call Nathan / Mbali @ Auto Atlantic MINI and ask them as I recall giving them the breakdown etc before I left so they can advise.

P.S - MINI/BMW its no different, they all use the same setup and radio's just in a different dashboard.

Oh, I suspect a phone number would also be useful.

According to CPA the defect needs to be of such a nature, in most cases material, that it being present hampers your ability to use the car for it's intended purpose. I guess you can argue that you love music too much and without it you can't drive but it's a long shot. Do what the other fanatics suggest and give the dealer a chance. Drop off the car in jan, make it clear when you want it back by and insist on a courtesy car.

Having a good relationship with your dealership is priceless. These things happen and they can be extremely frustrating, but finding good service in any industry these days is becoming a mission, so best thing would be to build your relationship, it is Christmas after all.

BMW wanted 12k to install BT in my 2006 non-iDrive e90.
I am using aux from my GPS with BT to the phone.
GPS Shows the phone book, missed calls, last call etc.
Can only ctrl the volume from the steering and switchover when receiving a call is manual.
It's the cheapest solution I could find that works reliably.

Well some feed back, I have the car back from BMW

Radio is still not fixed along with AUX input, they have to send the radio to BMW and they only open in the new year and I understand that.

There is also lose stiching on the back of the steering wheel, which will only be fixed in mid Jan as well.

The rest of the issues they have pretty much fixed.

They replaced the center storage console.
Replaced the Starter Motor
All the rest was fixed as well.

So Far it has cost them about R5050, thanks to motor plan.

Thanks to BMW for all the Effort.

What exactly can the 3000k do, can it only do bluetooth ?
