@herr Bmw not worth it my E46 was decatted and had performance box the issues i had and errors that the Ecu picked up was i nightmare not to mention the car was burning too rich i went to bemows and got the original exhaust system with the CAT and fitted it, never had a issue ever since my wife always says if u want to modify a car buy a VTEC or Runx BMWs are fussy one small change and all hell brakes loose "If its not broken dont fix it"

Sorry to hag the thread.
But what is it to de cat? :fencelook:

To remove the factory catalytic converter/s that sits on the exhaust which reduces emissions by sanitizing the carbon. These tend to get blocked in time and restrict airflow even worse than it does when new.

We fortunately don't have laws in place, so people remove them. As soon as emission testing becomes part of our road worthy requirements, we're in kak! :)

Lucky for us there are too much old oil burning cars on our roads to force those laws.

Hello, i recently had a complete decat done on my bmw 320d (e46) and its been giving off a lot of fumes through the exhaust. Can someone please tell me of there's a way to reduce these fumes?

Thanks.

I have the same car as you, I’ve done all the research and decided against the decat. If your car is identical to mine you have 4 catalytic convertors. Your exhaust manifold is a two pieces manifold with a Cat at each end of the manifold and two cats midway through the exhaust system in think.
You will need software to override the sensors placed at the first two primary cats at the exhaust manifold. The cost of this when I check was R6700 decat and software. However the gains do not justify the cost. So I personally decided against it.
