Q's for 330i owners.

Hi guys.
I've been hunting for a clean 330i manual for well over 1 year now and finally I have found something. My dealer will soon have a 2011 330i M-sport 6M and I have 1st right of refusal. The spec sheet says it is fitted with option 715 M-Aerodynamic Pack. Wth is that? I've tried Google but can't find a definitive answer.

I know a few of us use 330's as a daily, which is what I intend to do.
What is your fuel consumption (I do 60k freeway against traffic)?
What tends to go 1st after 100k miles?
The N52B30 motor - I've read good things - can you say the same?
Is the gearbox shift feedback as k@k as my 320i?
I know the suspension was softened for the normal spec LCI's, is this also the case for LCI M-Sport?

Car vin: WBAPM360X0NK60630

Really looking forward to hearing from 330i drivers......maybe I will be one soon.

:ty:

I think 715 is just basically the Mport bodykit, also, Msport models have stiffer suspension compared to the other specs.

I cannot comment on the fuel consumption, but you should get around 8-9L/100km

I get 10l/100km on my 2009 E90 330i auto. For a daily it's a great car, better consumption the freeway. Get around 12l/100km in traffic

Well I drove the pre lci version and I also get around 12L/100km in the city and around 8L/100km on the open road. Traffic in these guys is not a wonderful thing as it will drink through your tank. Expect around 500km max from a tank with moderate to some spirit driving.

Ofcourse all this change when you are at the coast I've learned in the last 30 days. My fuel consumption improved to 10L/100km in the mosselbay city, if you could call it that and 8L/100km on the N2. So I basically get now around 700 - 750km per tank

Same driving style, GP FTW!

Oh and OP, the bmw in question, yours to be, has an upgraded N52K motor with the following differences between the N52 and N52K, latter is yours

The engine underwent minor modifications in September 2006 and is now designated
N52K. With the introduction of the N52K, modifications were made in following areas:
• Cylinder head cover
• Camshafts
• Crankshaft
• Stem diameter of exhaust valves increased to 6 mm instead of 5 mm
• Torsional vibration damper
• Crankcase ventilation
• Hot-film air mass meter (HFM)
• Throttle valve
• Digital motor electronics

Thank you gents, especially Lizzard - that's the kind of info I'm looking for.
My dealer should have the car in this week, cannot wait to see her and drive.

The 'option 715' still eludes me. A while ago a member posted his 330 or 335 with a different front bumper than M-Sport. It had a much wider air dam and the rear bumper was different, but I can't for the life of me find that thread.

Guess I'll have to wait until I see the car.

Run the VIN at the dealer and have them check if the Water Pump was replaced in MP. If not, have some cash ready for when it 'cooks out'.

Vanos solenoids give issues, but not always.

Other than that, theres nothing to worry about these machines!

Hi

I have A/T pre-lci Non Msport, so cannot comment on the kit that you are referring to.

The car averages 7.5l- 9l per 100 on the highway, dependent on speed and 9.5l up to 12L on local running, depending on how you drive it and traffic etc.

No problems to date, when the car reaches 100k km, i will see if there is any maintenance needed, considering the age as well.

I still feel the service intervals are too far apart with these cars, Haven't serviced it yet since the time i bought it!

All the best with your buy!

I would love to hear how you managed to negotiate this?

Did you physically call up all dealers and tell them what you are looking for, or do you have some well established relationships at certain dealers that give you this preferential treatment?

Please do share some light! :praise:

Nah bud. Just sheer luck I guess. I was 2nd in line for a LCI 320d and missed out. Then I started telling the chap what I would consider and he mentioned an upcoming 330i for which I demanded he send me on OTP immediately. Now I'm waiting with ants in my pants.

Ive got a Z4 coupe, same N52B30 engine, mixed driving heavy traffic and open road I get 10l/100km. im sure if I drive more freeway with less traffic I can bring that down.

I'm loving the encouragement. My 320i man gets 8.6 freeway. Crazy to think a 3.0 can match that. BMW FTW.

I get 8.5l/100km on the highway and about 12l/100km in traffic. Combined it's about 10.5 but I drive an auto. It may be better on a manual depending on your driving style.

The water pump and thermostat are an issue but they normally last until about 150k km.

my consumption was not good with a healthy 330i auto. i didn't drive it like miss daisy but didn't murder it all the time either...probably around 400 odd on a full tank too.

Update. So the guy trading in his (mine) M-Sport pulled out of the deal, so no car for me. Bummer.
However I drove a non M 330i auto with Logic7 and Pro Nav but no Xenons, BT, auto wipers and no manual box.
I've never been so undecided before.
What to do...?

I have a pre-lci exclusive auto and I still enjoy it after 7 years of ownership. The m-sport would have a stiffer suspension that's for sure but unless you'll be tracking it I don't see much difference other than the looks. Not sure about the transmission...
Auto vs manual is personal preference, I'm lazy so an auto works well for me lol. If you're set on a manual than wait for one but why not take the auto while you wait
That interior looks nice, never seen it before.

The caramel interior on black looks really great. Is aftermarket xenon not relatively easy? I'd imagine getting an e90 that has been wrecked shouldn't be hard and you could use all the electronics from that - just spitballing, if that's something important to you.

Autobox would be a downer for me, but if it's your daily maybe the auto is actually better - more relaxing for sure!

I'm filling in the fin application now. Still mixed feelings tho.
That leather is Dakota Saddle Brown. Looks very nice I must admit.
