[Q] Traffic Information Working For Anyone in iDrive?

@ri

///Member
Was just wondering if anyone actually receives traffic information on their iDrive? (Especially the F30's).

Mine always says "No traffic information available at this time".

My car is non-Connected Drive. If you are receiving traffic please state if your car is Connected Drive or not.

Thanks!

Something like this?

I believe that the traffic info is part of connected drive and would make use of the same sim card used for the rest of the connected drive functions.

My understanding is that RTTI (Real time traffic information) does work in that way. However, TMC does not require the SIM and uses FM radio.

I suspected as much regarding TMC but wanted to hear if anyone has ever seen anything on this screen in SA without ConnectedDrive?

Might consider the connected drive retrofit if it's reasonable. Gert please PM me with what we'd need :) pretty sure it won't be cheap.. I think ConnectedDrive just a nice to have at this stage though...

I can't find any conclusive proof that you can get traffic info on Combox enabled cars hey. It works in other countries but we're backwards as always.

If anyone else can confirm?

Haha that's why I'm trying to get some first hand feedback! Sure some of the guys must have connected drive here so hoping someone will chime in soon :)

Thanks

Any feedback? Is the combox retrofitable? As I understand SA don't broadcast traffic info over RDS, so no traffic info without a SIM.

Desperately want traffic info on my 2014 F30 330d.

My F30 has Connected Drive and I do receive RTTI.
According to the "BMW Genius" (yes, that's what they're called :rollsmile: ) that showed me my features, its part of connected drive package with the sim.

My 2015 F30 330D has connected drive and does not receive RTTI.

You guys obviously have the RTTI option enabled.

If you did not specify it with the car and you have the high end nav you can apparently subscribe to the service. But not yet. BMW SA have to get their portal up and running where you can subscribe to additional connected drive services.

This is the info I have been given by the connected drive help line, so if anybody knows different please let me know.

You might be able to code it in as I saw some options. Maybe chat to OBDWorx

Maybe the guys at BODWorx can chime in here, I spent some time on the phone today with the bmw connected drive people and from what I can gather, coding will not help. The following services if not purchased when you specced the car require annual subscriptions, RTTI, Concierge and remote services. If you have connected drive, telephony services and the high end navigation system you are free to subscribe to these services. Now here is the catch, their portal for subscribing to these services will only be up and running in March 2016.

So for now, connected drive as it sits in my car is just a term that I can tell people I have in the car, I just hope they never ask me what it does.
