Hi All,

When I attended the ODI event on the 1st of Feb, i had made some contact with the owners and requested pricing for a full day at ODI. Since then, chatted to our advertisers and the event coordinators as well as the Owner of BMWFanatics and we want to host this event. We have been pencil'd in for the 26th of July 2015. Mid winter, nice and cold!!!

But, we need to rake up money for this type of event, There is a huge cost implication, we need to pay for Track, Marshals, Medical and Fire marshals, etc. We want to cap the entries so that every participant has a fair amount of track time. We will also run a number system so you don't have to wait in a line.

At this point, the event is not confirmed, this thread is being put up to judge the response. In return, the response will identify the success of this type of event.

As per the poll:

1. I Would be interested in paying R300 to participate in the 1km and 400m timed runs on the day?
As above, you should roughly be able to run 5 to 6 1km and 7 - 8 400m runs. A number system will be used, we will run cars in batches of 15. So at most, you will sit in a line for 15 minutes.

2. I would rather pay the usual ODI fee of R250 to participate and R60 to enter and stand in lines for 45 minutes.

3. I would come through to spectate at a cost of R50 per person.

With the 3 sponsors that have come on board, we are able to discount the entry fee from the initial R600 to R300 and add a spectator fee.

Please cast your vote in the poll?

Regards,
TheFanatics Events

Yep, but its a big gamble. Especially to drive that distance, pay R300 entry only to have 2 runs.

Our plan, you will be guaranteed at-least 5 x 1km runs in a worst case. I am sure with 50 cars, we can have more than 5 runs. That day we went, there was 100 cars. Plus they had the usual big burners who take a good 10 minutes to stage and run. We will avoid this.

I would love the private event. Max 50 cars.

I know Kish and a couple other DBN guys are keen to make the trip for this day. I hope we can make it successful this year, it will be an annual event if it is.

I'd pay 500-600 to support a Fanatics event.

Why dont we also look at hosting a dyno day before the event to raise some funds towards the track fee ?

Either way, count me in for this event.

Thanks Shiks!

Dyno days dont really bring in much, but it will surely help.

I am overwhelmed with the response, we have 2 advertisers who are keen to sponsor part of the track hire fee. As such, we maybe able to limit the entries further and drop the price a little. Nothing is signed and sealed as yet!

Thanks to those that have voted already. However, the interest from the forum is bleak. At present, 14 are keen to participate (@ R600 each, we are not even half way towards track cost) . 3 rather go to ODI on an open day! And 12 are just going to watch.

Guess we will have to open this up to other clubs/tuners, etc. My team and I are confident that we can make this a success.
