Prop-shaft (recommendations)

Hi all.

I have decided to get this done asap.
I live in Cape Town and want the prop-shaft on my E90 universal joints replaced,center support bearing etc.
A whole overhaul on the thing. This must include balancing also.

Not sure how much it will cost but I want it done.

I could be wrong, but I’ve never heard of this work being done successfully in Cape Town. You’re probably better off with a new prop

I suggest you speak to Ferobrake in 13 Jellicoe Ave, Epping 1.

They helped with my E34 and I was also told you cannot replace the U-joint on the prop. They did balancing and can do fitment as well.

@Ricky how much does the balancing cost (e46)?

I've' changed two center bearings already & guibo seems fine yet it still get vibration on pull away\slow speeds (3rpm)...

The U Joints on the late model cars cannot be replaced.

Your only path is an agents propshaft which comes complete.

The prop was 'modified' to take an aftermarket u-joint by the previous owner/s. When mine broke, I bought a new joint and centre bearing and had it balanced.

Between R9k and R14K

The prop for the 740 was R14k and for the Z4MC it was R12k (about a year ago)

So i went through the trouble of getting a quote via BMW for a E90 320i manual prop shaft.....

and

R12721.00 includes all costs except fitment would get you a new one EX Germany.

Let the dealership install it as well.
If you install it, and it vibrates (I have witnessed this on more than one occasion) they wont take any responsibility, whereas if they fit this part, it comes with warranty.

Problem is with our usual uncommitted workforce that simply doesn't care, and damages the part during transport
