Project e12 520i

Hi guys,

Just introduced myself on the forum as an owner of an e12 520i of which I've been working on since 2013.

Here are the pics from when the car had been parked for 13 years to when I took it for body work.

The car had to be stripped of paint and body filler.

The thought of restoring an E12 is scary! We had a few of them many years ago and the rust they pick up is annoying! Anyway, finding parts these days is not easy as 10 years ago.

But great to see E12s being brought back to life! Especially an E12/8 - the '83 to 85 model that had the refinements from the E28.

REALLY looking forward to seeing this restoration! PLEASE keep posting updates!

Thank you for all your kind responses, I'm going to keep you posted on all the improvements made.

While the car was at the panelbeater, I did the following:

1. Took the bumpers for re-chroming
2. Reupholstered the interior in leather
3. Repaired the dashboard and painted the centre console to black

Here are the pictures of the car straight from the booth:

I have misplaced pictures of the bumpers, seats and centre console for which I will try and look for but in the meantime heres the dashboard.

I'll be posting more pictures next week.

The dash was done by "Leather Tek" in Pretoria. I must say it came out way better than I expected.
