Problems if car is not driven

Howzit guys

Just curious, i want to know what could be the downfalls if a car is not driven enough, mechanical wise etc.
my n55 135i is doing about 2000kms in 3 months, and my dad's e92 335i n54 is doing about 5500kms in about 18months:fencelook:.
i live like 5mins away from work and i have a spare car which i use, so that is why mileage is low:flyfun:.

My question is what harm am i doing and what problems could i possibly face if i continue like this:thumbs:

You could have the problem of me coming over and taking your car out whilst you are at work!
Soooo, dont you want to sell your car to me? hehe. Oh if only....
You shouldn't run into any issues at all hey.
And if you are worried I'll PM you my details and I'll take the cars out regularly for you

Why ? If i may ask

Its a 135i, not a Porsche GT3, or Ferrari F430.

I have an E90 M3 that I use daily, I wouldnt have it any other way. I bought the car to use it and enjoy using it. I have done almost 20 000 km's in 8 months.

you need to have your head examined if you walk into your garage and choose the i20 to go to work in...

if you want to keep it a long time its best to drive the 135 as much as you can and get all the problems sorted before it goes out of MP...

I only do 10k a year. The only problem i'm faced with now is that my battery is on its way out as it doesn't get enough time to charge up regularly.

So don't worry, but the one concern is not going to hurt the car but your wallet. When selling up, if its old but with low mileage its doesn't really matter as dealers only dish out book value which is calculated on around 30k a year , unless you get a private buyer willing to pay more that book. On the other hand if you got too much mileage you gonna lose out to. So its a lose, lose situation unfortunately.

coming back to your question...

fuel could evaporate, battery issues would be inevitable as well as your fuel lines starting to corrode.?

As long as you drive it at least once a week to let it warm up completely before parking again, you wont get any better preserving conditions for a car than that.

lol every car has 'some power' the 1,6 has some what less than your 135...

i would just drive the 135i more to bring up any manufacturing faults... and for the

The electric water pumps on those cars arnt the best either they dont like to stand ,,,,they have changed from SIEMENS to CONTINENTAL i know because i tried 2 second hand pumps and they didnt work and had to fork out R7500 for a new one so run the engine atleast once a week i would say aswell

Get an intelligent battery charger if you not using the car more than once a month..

We just got one for our Jeep as its not getting used much these days & battery keeps going flat (just had to replace it)

We also have a old Pajero & a Discovery 1 V8i at our holiday house that sit for 6 months to 12 months between uses.. We just fill them with fuel before storing them & disconnect the batterys

i use the car like once maybe twice a week but its really not far so yes it getting used just not on a daily basis, so i think there shouldnt be any problem.
So far no1 has said any really hectic stuff about specific parts giving up other than the battery, which is good to know

Come on what did you buy the 135i for just to look pretty in the garage.

Working close to home means you you will really enjoy the trip to work and you don't have to sit in traffic. Now after the huge chunk of cash you spent on your 135 you driving a I20 thats actually funny.

What a waste of a great car
