Problems at the coast???

Hi Guys,

Was down in sunny durbs over the weekend. First trip with the 335i after the JB4. Had it on Map 0 for the entire drive down. (Avg consumption of 8.4l/100km mostly cruising at 125 -135kph - Thanks Carbon Doctor!):ty:

Anyway the next day I switched the JB to Map 5 and drove around for maybe 30-40km before really opening her up. First few pulls were awesome. Felt a little stronger than she is up here in Joburg, but the exhaust note was much better! :inlove:

Then all of a sudden under WOT she stuttered abit and I back off. The idle was rough and it almost was as if she was running on 5 cylinders. No EML lights or anything. Pulled of, switched off and restarted, same problem. Turned the JB back to Map 0 and all was well again. Drove her all weekend and all the way back home with no issues what so ever.

I tried to read the codes when I got home but my laptop is a PITA and couldn't connect.

Just interested to hear you guys thoughts and inputs. Could it have been the HPFP or Injectors or Plugs? If so, wouldn't the problem persist even on Map 0?

Car is pulling fine, no cold start problems, smooth idle etc.

Thanks for your input!!

I have the same problem with my car,the rough idle and stutter happening on map5.I also get a "jerk" or "miss" at about 5000rpm.No errors came up with the diagnostic test.Twins advised that its a possible boost leak.I've removed all the mods and the cars is scheduled to go in on Thursday. :fencelook:

i had same problem, but it also did it for me in stock. you will probably find a code relating to a misfire in one of the cylinders.

you will need to start with injectors, coils and plugs if that is the case.

when i had the problem, it didnt show itself all the time in stock.

Mo did the car smoke when the problem occurred?

Has your car ever been in for injectors and hpfp?

No smoke or anything.

Had the HPFP replaced on the recall and also 2 injectors. Not because of failure though.

I just took her out for spin now to a quiet road and belted her around for a bit. She seems happy and well no issues at all. Just wasted petrol and some tyre life!

My M/plan is expires in September and if anything should break it needs to happen before then. But like I said, now on Map 0 and Map 5 she is happier than a pig in Sh#t. Maybe she just didn't like the coast?
