Problem with headlights

I have an HID Kit installed on my E90 in the halogen housing.

The issue is, that more recently when switiching on the headlamps, more often than not only the RHS headlamp will power up. The left is completely dead. The OBC will show the bulb out error and I'll turn the headlights off until the error disappears. Swicth back on and both will power up. Sometimes I have to switch car off, pop out the key fob, pull the indicator stalk toward me to power up the lights until the left eventually powers up.

I've checked all the connections and triple checked and all is fine. Any advice?

Could be the ballast - swap the left and right ones and check if the fault moves with it.

Will try this and check - never thought of swapping the ballasts actually. I thought the fault could have been that not enough power is reaching the ballasts in order to power on the globe.

msm is right. swop the ballast around

if the problem moves to the other side then it is the ballast
if it does not then it is the bulbs.

to make sure it is the bulbs, swop them around.
