Problem found but new issue

So me and Ramo3n found what pulley is making the noise, found it to be the aircon clutch.
Removed the fanbelt running that plley, noise gone.
Now this morning after the 3 or so start my inspection light comes on.
Car was serviced a month ago and computer was reset and everything, why would that light come on?
Is it due to the fanbelt not being on or is it something else?

Glad one issue was identified. I absolutely no idea what could cause the service light to come on.

Try reset the light and see if it reoccurs.

Rather try and find out.

The service light could be due to the past service that was done and the light was not reset at the time...possible? Do an onboard computer check of the vitals such as oil/water/electronics...it should give you an idea if any services are now due

He might not charge just to have a look at it for you. If you want, call the workshop tomorrow and explain to him the problem. His name is Deon. Workshop number is 011 822 4244

hiya Thunder

do you need the computor and cable, or the reset tool that fits into the socket located in the engine bay.

My friend that does most of the maintenance/services on my 2 cars, lives in Terenure (Loop or Looper str...or something like that) and he can do the reseting of the service indicator......if that is what you are wanting, and he will probably not ask anything if I refer you to him ?

I can reset it myself no prob, my prob is I dont know why the light came on for no reason after we removed the fanbelt running the aircon.

Does the electronics pick up the aircon isnt running or what the hell?

strange indeed, I wouldn't have thought that the E36 model were that computor sophisticated.

I also removed the aircon belt on the E36 325i (1993 model) I used to own because the aircon compressor was packing up and blowing fuses, as well as the belt tensioner pulley was also screaming loudly, and about to seize.

but it made no difference to the service indicator lights though

Thats why I took it of, but mine is the pulley on the aircon itself.

Mine is the 95 318i.
