Pricing: Downward trend?

So... with the launch of the much anticipated F30, the general feeling was that pricing on the 'earlier models' would head down south.

Anyone noticed if this has indeed been the trend or if thats going to take a bit of time once the F30 starts to really flood the market?

+1... Spoke to some of the sales guys at the launch and they assured me that they're going to try and sell the cars for the prices that they are marked for at this stage, so should surely take a while still...

From the general shopping done. Seems the E90 aint dropping prices. Seems the E90 is getting more popular and more in demand from the sales persons i spoke to you. F30 already getting classed as a yuppies car and lots of people are waiting to see the msport versions due later this year

And 1 thing I've noticed about the F30 is that it doesn't have the LED indicator lights anymore as BMW has been experiencing problems with the earlier E90 (08-09) it seems. Spoke to the guys at Clearwater and they assured me that it will surely be present with the facelift models once all the glitches has been resolved..

Yup, i priced a 328i..... came to almost R540k and thats excluding MSport package due in Sept/Oct, no trade in assistance, no lower interest rates....

Give it about 6 months or so.There's no doubt that E90 prices will drop!!!!!!

I think I bought my E90 at the right time. A week before launch of the F30.

I got prime- 5%, Mazda have big specials on, and naturally offered far below trade for it,but BMW settled it for me, got a lot of money out of this deal. Attempted it a month earlier and it was a no deal.

I'll be driving my E90 for the next couple of years...Will rather wait for the facelift and see what BMW offers on the used/demo models...:rollsmile:

I agree with Onyx...i had the exact same concern.

The difference between the 328 and 335 base models is about R40,000

The diff between the 320d and 328 is like 50,000...

So why would you choose the car with less power if you can take the bigger model with more power and pay a "little" more?

Or to put the question differently: why are the price points between the different models so narrow? Can we expect then that the new M3 will come in just under 1mill and the new M6 just a 100 gran more than the M5?

So what are we missing. Perhaps BMW has made the price points deliberately competitively narrow because it has shifted its campaign to "affordibility"...in other words it will be the expensive "options" that will move the price points...so the manufacturer sells you an affordable basemodel but makes it more desirable by offering you those luring options that we all so much want...and this is where the company makes its money.

Damn. Marketing has become so sophisticated. :idea:

Yeah, taking pricing into consideration, i guess a well priced e90 335i wouldnt be terrible :rollsmile:
