Hi Guys,

What is a precat?

How do you have it removed, i heard you could gain 10-15bhp by doing this?

You mean decat!

You need to take it to an exhaust fitment place and have them cut it out. The replace it with a resonator or straight pipe. You may require cat foolers tho.

Well, that's when your cat gets an abortion.

Cat should be faster from 0-100 with this conversion

Mmmmmmm

Precat - Before it becomes a cat, it must be a kitten ! :fencelook:

On the R56 mini there is a cat just after the Turbo and another one further down that can be seen under the car.

If you gonna go the route of removing both, might as well fit a complete DP.

hi yes it called a decat. Its to remove the catalytic converter on the exhaust which is used to lower emissions. i have done a decat on my cooper S and it does make a good difference. Just go to an exhaust shop cut it out and they put a straight pipe in that section. The cat is a huge restriction but be sure to space out your lambda/O2 sensors so that it does not throw a fault. Use a thick nut since you will save on not having to buy the mini cat which is about R500 each.

also make sure when they removing the sensors that they unplug it then take it out since when it gets tangled it gets damaged and in a few instances blew computer boxes because the wires touch which causes a short.

Cat foolers/mini cats are there for a reason. The size of the bung has nothing to do with having to save costs on the mini cats.

Cars with more than just 2 sensors require them so that there are proper values sent to the ECU for fuel mixtures.

i have an innovate air/fuel system which measures the values coming from the lambda and it was constant the way it should be. But i guess thats my opinion it works for me maybe it wont work for others

Nah I read on minitorque that you remove the precat, I thinks it's diff to decat.

This is located in engine bay, if I'm not mistaken?

How hard is it to remove that, suppose to be simple but I don't know what it is:fencelook:
