DOC its me and you know I live Beemers. (st forum that's your clue) :lol:

PPK makes a big difference with a JB UNIT fitted , tested on various cars. Logs will show immediately how much cooler the car runs.

I would rather install PPK with aftermarket DownPipes and JB (call rennzport). Add in a nice fuel mix and you good to go.

DP and JB is around 10-12k

Half the cost and better performance. BMW back box is useless.

This is my opinion based on a few cars modded previously

Yes, but there's no warranty and you can say goodbye to the MP.
The only reason anyone would consider paying more than a JB4 for less is to keep MP, and that is worth a lot more than the gains on a JB4 versus the PPK.

Of course if someone has money just getting minted in their pockets, then you don't waste your time with JB4 or BMW approved PPK, you buy a proper M car, M3 m5 m6 etc.

In the end, us poor guys are weighing the cost of more power for cheaper against MP forfeiture, and that is the debate.

Very correct. I can't take a chance even a minute one that I loose my MP.

But seriously considering the PPK conversation. ..

Doc, have a look at the install process of the jb4 unit for the f30 series and see how quick it is to remove and reinstall unlike the previous versions which had a lot of supporting covers that had to be removed...

How detectable is the JB4?
If your car goes in for a service,will diagnostics not pick up?
BMW has made significant strides in the anti tuning area.
Is this transparent to BMW?

You plug it on and they will know. When a turbo blows or engine or gearbox they first download data and thats when they tell you "sorry Sir we have found tampering with the cars ECU/performance mods"

Its true and not even the dealer can hide it. Ask any BMW mechanic.

true this.. the latest ecu's are in a different league of sophistication..

So PPK it is then....

Seems like tuners wont be able to keep up with the latest technology anymore....

Please elaborate on your post here as there are no phsical or programing being done to the ecu here...

it has been proven that BMW no longer employ mechanics as opposed to parts replacers who follow servicing and fault finding worksheets stored on a computer...

I think the OP should just get the PPK and enjoy his car.

For those that dont know what a JB4 is and how it functions its better to go read up on the tune. There must be a reason why there are more JB4 users on the N54 & N55 platform than PPK users or even flash users for that matter.
