When i brake hard sometimes, i get a whine on the power steering. Anyone have any idea why braking hard would cause the power steering pump to whine.

Where exactly is the power steering fluid reservoir located?

the easiest way that i can think of explaining it would be if you standing looking at your engine bay, its on the right hand side of the engine. it has a circular ribbed cap. cant miss it

Actually NO.................you CAN and probably WILL miss it, if it is anything like the 328i one. The stupid SOB that installed that thing on the E36 328i needs his fingers broken.

My car had a toasted power steering pump for about six months before I got around to fixing it which meant lots of top ups to keep it running. Every time I filled it up at a service station I get sworn at form all angles because half of the fluid landed up on the forecourt floor and the other on my sump plate. It should never have been installed that low down and if you have to do it with the motor hot you are going to get toasted.

P.S. you will also need a bath once you have topped this thing up!

Eish, is it next to the oil filter??? My 320i is a 95 model and the 328i is a 96 model with a 98 model 328i engine, will the location be the same as the 320i power steering?
