Power steering pump failure

Hi everyone. On Wednesday afternoon, when leaving work my car was making this terrible sound when turning the steering and later that evening when I drove again it was even worse. Power steering liquid was on minimum and so I took the car in to the dealer yesterday.
Phoned me back and the power steering pump is "bye-bye", it is on back order from Germany and may take up to 15 working days to get here:cry:
They told me the pump is in the region of R17000 can this be? Thank goodness for motorplan:praise:
So they have given me a 2011 320i with 487km on the clock, I am grateful but the power:sleep:
Upside is by the time I get my 335i back I'll be so used to the 320i that the 335i power will be mindblowing:thumbs:

That is just the motorplan price that they give you to make you think that you should be glad to have motorplan, and you can't have a car without it, and when it runs out you should rather get rid of your car and a get a new one.

Realistically, the pump probably costs a tenth of that, a new pump for my 330i is R1600 from goldwagen.

Edit: seems like everyone's PS pumps are failing, has already been a couple of similar threads in the last week, hmmm the plot thickens, BMW doesn't have a part kill switch, my ass :)

With you on that Sankekur, they must have a surplus of pumps now they're killing ours off so we can buy it from them. Unfortunatley we're all cheap bastards who want R500 pompe.

lol @ R500 pompe
