Just a rendering , rear doesn't look butch enough for an M car.
but I've read grill slats on the new Ms will be horizontal and not vertical, so maybe the front end is close

What a terrible looking car. Im sure the differences between this and the real thing will be very minor. But the grills will remain. And therein lies the problem.

I actually... dont hate this as much as I thought I would. Looks better than the 4 series. Maybe it will grow on me like the new 3-series did.
Over all though, I'm not liking the look of this generation too much.

Its weird how things change for me each cycle. I used to love the F30 and hate the look of the E90. Now that the new gen is out, I dislike the F30, and think the E90 is awesome.

That grille is an homage to the E3 E9 grilles.

Maybe a little narrower may have done the trick but generally speaking I am not averse to it.

There's definitely going to be aftermarket front bumpers to fix that odd front end. So much going on there.

The rest of it looks fine, but as many have mentioned, that front bumper is a disaster.
Why is BMW taking design cues from Alfa.

Also, we are really heading into that meme where in the future the entire car will be a grille with wheels on the side.

Ultimately, if BMW design chooses to go with this style language, it is going to polarise like much of BMW design as of late.
Either you love it, or hate it or behind door number 3, it grows on you.
