After much searching and thinking over an extended amount of time. I gave up on an F80.
Me and the SO test drove an X5 3.0D G05 on Monday and 3ven though it was a short test drive, it changed our worlds.

So ive been looking for an X5 3.0D G05 in the week and think that ive found the 1. Its got around 70 000kms on the clock but plan expired in Feb.

i cant renew plan so i will get a aftermarket warranty. Vehicle will be used by the SO for school drops off daily and office twice a week which is 10kms return. Annual mileage should be around 12 000kms.

I got sent motorplan report and claims etc, seems clean. 1 small accident in 2019 and repaired by BMW ARC.

Any experience with these cars out of plan, maintainance etc?

The engines are bulletproof if maintained and serviced regularly. The electrical gremlins can be issue so its advisable to have some funds stashed away under your mattress should something go terribly wrong.

Ja I have heard the same on these, just got to check if it has airbags in the rear suspension but even that now, can be done for much cheaper. I think each bag costs around R3k IIRC.
I saw one on my way to KZN, at the rate it was going I was thinking it was an M50d, but when I chatted to the guy at the stop... he said it had a file and DP. It seems to have really woken it up, it didnt seem like 'just a 30d' when it was pulling away on overtakes etc.

I reckon it will be an awesome buy

Sorry you could not find a F80, as for the X5 its rock solid. Inspect the paint work etc closely and ensure that the ARC matched up paint correctly best to park it in the sun and look at it from different angles.

I have the baby version X3 2.0d its an awesome ride. The X5 is a step up for sure

No-brainer purchase. Just do the checks and balances as usual which you seem to have done.

X5 30d was my preference (at the price point) and the only delay/indecision was the mrs not wanting a 'nice & expensive' car messed up by kids and dogs LOL.
