Please HELP!!

I don't know what to do...My E53 2002 X5 4.4I auto trans seems to be stuck in driving position. Therefore giving off trans. Failsafe prog. I have changed oil & filter it's been doin this for about a year now & I haven't been able to drive for about 9months. I bought any and every piece of software made for BMW and the proper cables but I have no idea what to do where to start. Thing is I'm moving outta my house and I'm going to need to move the car. I would love to drive the car rather then have it towed. But I don't want to park it somewhere & it get tagged for tow. So please if any one has any suggestions. Highly appreciated

Understood completely...but can you share the the backstop about how the car got into its current state it could be very helpful from the start...

I'm unsure if this could work but software like INPA could possibly give you some readouts on error codes.

Trans failsafe on the e53 is typically solenoids in the valve body having failed or the A drum.
Either way driving the car will be most challenging.
A box overhaul is now in the 40k plus range.
