Please help, new to the "dark side"

Hi guys
Got my tractor today, 2008 320d auto Sportpack in white.
81000km, motorplan expired in April this year.
One very strange thing, if you accelerate suddenly, it sounds like a clutch slipping, esspecially from standstill.
Its not very bad, just sound strange, as I'm not used to it in my 320i, do I have to worry about that?
Maybe its normal on a diesel, dunno?
Wow, got 20.4km/L today from CT to Gansbaai, but with carefull driving, unbelievable!!
Will post pics tomorrow after a good wash and polish

Read on the internet about a gearbox reset, about switch on the car, and put your foot on the accelerater for 30 seconds (not while idling though) lolol

Have you owned an automatic before? It sounds normal being an auto with the torque converter running up before locking.

I did yes, my E90 320i is auto, and doesn't do that, but as I said, maybe its normal, just sound strange to me, sounds like my 83 year old neighbour with his Citi Golf pulling of, first a revving before actual take of lol

Me again with my problem lol, I'm quite clueless.
The whole clutch slipping sound seems to get worse.

Sounds like revving up a car before releasing the clutch, this morning I pulled a empty 6ft Venter, and it sounded much worse, don't like it at all.

This afternoon, without the Venter, when pulling away from a stop, from first to second it also sounded like clutch slipping, and you can feel it, getting worse very quick.

Strange enough, in Sport mode it sounds normal.

Please guys, do I have to worry?
Luckily I have a aftermarket warranty, but I'm so far away from the experts.

How is this possible, 82000km, one owner, FSH, motorplan expired March this year.

There's a Durban fanatic that's been experiencing problems with his gearbox as well...... His is a 2008 320d A/T Msport as well, with 101000kms.....

Are you experiencing that problem only when feathering the throttle ?

Thanks for the reply, I can pull away slow, its not so bad, but still there, if I try to accelerate faster, its sounds bad, to ashamed to accelerate to fast in town, sounds like I'm driving a manual and don't know how to drive.

I've checked this afternoon. From standstill, trying to accelerate a bit faster than normal, the car starts moving slow, revs go up to 2500rpm, then after a while falls to 1800 and then the car is pulling.
First to second, revs climb about 300rpm between gearshift, before pulling again.

Don't have a clue where to check the oil, and being 150km from the nearest experts, its difficult.

Do you think low oil can cause that, I'll be so glad?

Having my dreamcar for 16 days, this it quite a bummer

Anybody can help quick, where to find the plug?

Stiaan, take the car to ZF in Kuilsrivier?? (i think). Just off the R300 at the Bellville offramp turn left and carry on until you get to the second or third robot, there is a slipway to the left. Take that and carry on until you get to the next robot. Turn right and at the next robot turn left and just past the garage turn left again. Road makes a "loop". Carry on with the road until you see ZF straight ahead. Otherwise, pick me up (i am in Onrus River) and i will go with you and show you where ZF is.

Spoke to the guy at ZF yesterday, Forsdicks BMW' workshop manager gave me his nr.
The guy at ZF told me its impossible at 82000km for a gearbox fault (I hope so). He said we must just check the oil level, he's sure its that.
I'd like to go there, but can't during the week.
Do you think Eddie Bell will perhaps know something?

Phone Eddie, could be that he knows how to check the gearbox oil as it has to be at a certain temp and the car must be idling and in neutral or park (as far as i know - i am no expert on auto gearboxes but from what i have read)
He does a lot of German cars, so could be he knows how. He did once before changed the gearbox oil on my 1998 528i E39 with the Jatco box and i never had any problems with it. I am available to go with you to ZF whenever it suits you.
