There was a guy from auto dip designs at kyalami on sat, he quoted me R1200 to plastidip 4x 18" rims and he would come to me to do it. Uses a spray gun rather than cans.

Would it be better to take the wheels of the car while i paint them or should i just paint them on the car?

i would take them off then you dont have to mask off the brakes and you dont have to worry about overspray going onto the body of the car...

hell do one wheel a day will look like 'race car' with different colour wheels until all are complete :rollsmile:

Can't believe it guys, just went to autostyle and to builders today and I can't find any plastidip.
I bought vinyl to wrap the roof though, hopefully tomorrow I can wrap it!
Does anyone know where I can get some plastidip tomorrow?
It's pretty urgent lol

There is a guy in Midrand that did mine using a compressor and spray gun and sprayed all four wheels really well. He was running a special for the bmwfanatics. Much better than using the cans. The cost wad under a R1000.

lol broken telephone... putting the can in warm water makes it have nice pressure so it sprays nice an even I have been using boiled water with a bit of cold in it and it makes a huge difference to how it sprays even on warm days

Spent the hold day again searching for plastidip and didn't find any.
Any way, i bought a spoiler for the boot, and i wrapped the spoiler, roof and tinted the tail lights all by myself today.:inlove:
It was a pretty hard job and i must say its not perfect or even close, but it's enough for me to get an idea of what it will look like when i do it properly or pay for a pro to do it for me.:bangdesk:
I will post some pics tomorrow for you guys to see the "crap" i did on my baby lol.
I'm sure it will look much better when i ask a pro to do it, but until then, it will have to "ride" just like it is:fencelook:

The issue is that i had a friend helping me wrap the roof but as we were wrapping, when i looked to ask him to stretch the vinyl, he was in the kittchen playing around with his wife :argh:
so it came out with lots of wrinkles... but in two weeks time i will take it off and either plastidip it or pay for someone to do it properly...

haha that's always an issue..

What you can do is poke the bubbles with a pin and push them down.. If they don't immediately go down they will over a day in the sun.

The bubbles are not an issue at all... lol
the problem is the wrinkles.... its impossible to remove them..
But i'm not worried, in two weeks time i'll take the vinyl off and get it done right or plastidip it myself...

take the vinyl off now before the glue becomes an issue... wheels are a very complicated shape vinyl would not be my 1st choice...
