This oil seems well specd for the S54 according to the data sheet and a lot cheaper than Liqui Moly. Anybody used it? Or anyone have an opinion?

I can't speak for that specific variant, but as a brand my opinion is that Petronas is good. I wouldn't doubt that it is as good as any other similarly specced oil.

Alfa uses the (stupidly priced) Petronas Selenia Quadifoglio in my 4C. I can't say whether it is any better than other oils scientifically, but considering the car is mostly used for track days and breakfast runs and judging from what the oil looks like when it comes out (I am usually there for oil changes), I'd say it holds up very well. The reason I say this is in comparison to things like Edge Sport, the Purple liqui moly GT1 etc, they were black after a track session or two on my previous cars (to the point that every service provider was punting LM, but we were also having to book an oil change after every track day...). Is that an indicator that it is any better? I don't really know - could just be the way the oil is formulated/behaves.

The Petronas (I know this is probably different to Syntium and it is also a different spec) behaves more like Motul 300V in that there isn't excessive oxidising/black oil after heavy use.

All that said, the S54 is very sensitive to oil it seems and so S54 owners might have more specific recommendations/feedback.

Seeing as we are talking oils, any opinions on Valvoline VR1 10w60? Seems like this is very popular for track only applications. Battled to find a seller but found FIA-Auto today and will be getting from them.
