Petrol in my diesel system??

Hi guys i traveled from Jhb to Durban on Saturday my car is a 2004 320D 180k on clock. New turbo and new injectors a year ago. Car drove like a charm. I had about half tank and filled another R200 at tugela plaza unfortunately we went into the shop and came back paid the attendant and left. The mext day while driving my car just started shaking losing power and it could not drive at all. It starts but misfiring badly as if its running on 2 cylinders with a lot of smoke. Also the accelerator pedal is not responding and if touched the car cuts off. Took it to my mechanic and he drained my tank. This is what the diesel looked like compared to new diesel on the right. Should i be worried??

:YesNo: sorry dude...get back to the petrol station firstly to complain, they do this too shite often.
Its happened to my brother here in Uk, and my brother in JHB, in fact the garage who cleaned up my brothers car the mechanic recons in Poland during winter they run a bit of petrol in their diesels because it gets so cold.

you car should be ok if flushed proper and new filters.

Unfortunately i dont have the slip onky a sms on my phone of the actual transaction. Will change the petrol filter etc tomorrow and see if it helps. As of now the petrol in the tank is assuming. But to me that looks like a mix and definitely not clean diesel.

Petrol in diesel is not as nightmarish as diesel in a petrol engine

search function, will give you the answer, as I have seen it discussed before

I seem to recal (but dont quote me on it) that a clean out of filters, and a top up with fresh diesel, and a can of normal oil (for lubrication) to the tank, should just about do the trick

Don't stress. As long as it's flushed your car will be fine.
Misfuelling happened to me once but the car ran fine after flushing

How will i be 100% sure there's petrol in my system?

1.) The car has a irratic idle
2.) Sound like a tractor
3.) No power what so ever
4.) Tons of white smoke (black when u lucky enough to be able to rev it.

What filter should be changed? Diesel filter and?

When you top up with diesel after the flush, maybe go for 500ppm as it's more oily and should help get the pumps lubed again.

The thing is i am not sure it was mixed with petrol. They checked my butterfly valves it was fine. The mechanic just handed the car back and said he has no idea whats the problem he has never seen it before

Happened to me when i had TDI.. all i did was go to the garage , speak to manager.. they asked to get a qoute and they paid.. Clean the fuel lines, filters ,, actually the car felt alot better afterwards..

I was also in a similar situation when the attendant filled my car with R150 of unleaded 95 while I still had my TDI. The manager filled my car with 500ppm and when it got to half tank, I brought it back and filled up again. Car never had any issues and is still going strong.

When this happened to me the mechanic popped the hood and connected a type of vacuum to , what looked like an injector . So the petrol was taken from the injectors back to the tank.no tank emptying was involved- I watched.

Perhaps there's still petrol in the fuel lines

For the amount of petrol put in, just gooi Diesel 500ppm til its full. Back in the day, a bit of petrol would be mixed into diesel to thin it out.

The garage was even chilled about it, they had mechanic on call too for it.. So probably happens many times..

I am starting to think, that the problem is not related to the "possibly" accidental fueling with normal petrol
maybe related to Turbo or vacum pipes or injectors, and unrelated to a little bit of petrol mixed in.
